Meadow Sweet Cottage, East Hook, Okehampton, Devon


Meadow Sweet Cottage is a beautifully converted stone and cob barn, located just one mile from the main A30 near the market town of Okehampton, right in the heart of Devon. Surrounded by fields and farmland, the cottage enjoys a peaceful rural setting with excellent access to walking and cycling opportunities, including the 31-mile Tarka Trail, as well as the scenic Abbeyford and Hook Woods.

Accommodation

Meadow Sweet Cottage offers comfortable self-catering accommodation ideal for both couples and families. The spacious sitting room is equipped with a flat-screen TV and DVD player, and provides a wealth of information on local attractions, walking routes, cycling trails and the best places to sample Devon’s local produce.

The traditional, well-equipped kitchen features an electric cooker, microwave and fridge freezer, and guests are welcomed with a basket of fresh local produce on arrival. The kitchen leads through to a pleasant dining room, and there is also a convenient downstairs shower room with toilet.

Upstairs, the cottage comfortably sleeps two to four guests. The main bedroom features a double bed with lovely countryside views, while the cosy twin bedroom overlooks the valley towards Okehampton and Dartmoor. A cot is available on request. The bathroom includes a bathtub with an overhead shower.

Visiting the Area

The location is ideal for exploring both the rugged North Devon coastline and the softer shores of the south. To the north, guests can discover Hartland, the cobbled village of Clovelly, and the sandy beaches of Instow, Saunton, Woolacombe, as well as Lynton and Lynmouth, the gateway to Exmoor National Park. To the south, the South Devon Coast offers lively harbours and seaside towns such as Dartmouth and Torquay.

With Dartmoor National Park right on the doorstep, there is no need to travel far to experience Devon’s natural beauty. Visitors can explore dramatic rocky tors, spot wild ponies and enjoy traditional local pubs. Historic market towns such as Tavistock and Hatherleigh, charming thatched cottages and famous Devon cream teas all add to the appeal and make it easy to extend a stay and continue discovering everything Devon has to offer.
