Ding Dong Cottages, New Mill, Penzance, Cornwall


Ding Dong Cottages are set within seven acres of meadows near New Mill, high on the hills north of Penzance in Cornwall. The three self-catering properties comprise two cottages and a cabin, all enjoying breathtaking views across the surrounding countryside, over Mounts Bay and towards the Lizard Peninsula.

Bal Cottage

Bal Cottage sleeps up to four guests plus a cot. The spacious living room benefits from lovely views on both sides, including a wide west-facing bay window. Facilities include a 48” widescreen HD TV with Freeview via Chromecast, DVD/CD player, radio, games, books and a multi-fuel stove.

The kitchen/dining room, complete with its original granite fireplace, is fully equipped with a cooker, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, iron and ironing board. There are two ground-floor bedrooms, each with a 4’6” double bed and hand wash basin.

The Cabin

Tucked away at the end of the wild garden, The Cabin offers wonderful views of both countryside and sea. Sleeping two guests, it includes a 22” widescreen TV with Freeview, radio and fridge/freezer. The comfortable living area provides space to relax and unwind.

The kitchen is fitted with a full-sized modern gas cooker featuring four graded hob burners, a main oven and second oven/grill, along with a good supply of cooking utensils. Outside, a full-width decking area is ideal for enjoying the sunshine, while the lawned area in front of The Cabin includes a table and chairs for outdoor dining.

Visiting New Mill & Exploring Cornwall

The cottages are within easy walking distance of numerous ancient landmarks, including the Iron Age village of Chycauster, the Nine Maidens stone circle, Lanyon Quoit, the Mên-an-Tol and Chûn Castle. Surrounded on three sides by the Penwith Moors, which stretch from Land’s End to St Ives, the area offers endless opportunities to reconnect with nature.

In nearby Penzance, visitors can explore a variety of attractions. The Jackson Foundation is an environmentally informed art space showcasing the work of leading British contemporary artist Kurt Jackson while highlighting the efforts of environmental charities and NGOs. Chygurno features a dramatic cliffside garden overlooking Lamorna Cove, with terraces and steep steps leading through sheltered woodland to the water’s edge.

Families can also enjoy Eureka Escape, offering exciting and interactive real-life escape rooms with several themed experiences full of adventure and intrigue.
