Craigton Croft House, Attadale, Strathcarron, Ross-shire

Craigton Croft House is a charming coastal retreat, perfect for those looking to unwind and create special memories with family and friends. Once home to a traditional crofting family, this delightful property now offers a peaceful escape suited to couples, families, wildlife lovers, romantics and even the family dog.

Set in a stunning location right on the shores of Loch Carron, Craigton provides the ideal base for embracing the great outdoors. Guests can enjoy walking, wild swimming – sometimes alongside otters or seals – kayaking, wildlife spotting, paddling by the shore, or simply skimming stones with the children. Evenings can be spent enjoying a barbecue while watching the sun set over the Bealach Na Bà, or relaxing indoors beside the log fire with a good book.

The cottage is uniquely positioned between the world-famous Kyle of Lochalsh railway line and the shoreline. Tucked away at the end of a private lane with parking for two cars, access is via a small pedestrian railway crossing shared with one neighbouring property. A handful of local trains pass by each day, along with occasional visits from the Royal Scotsman and even steam trains, adding to the cottage’s charm. Attadale Halt is just a short walk away, where guests can signal to the driver and hop aboard for a scenic journey along the loch.

Craigton Croft House sleeps up to four adults and two children across two double bedrooms and one twin room. The heart of the home is a characterful open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, featuring exposed beams, cosy sofas, a wood-burning stove, a large farmhouse dining table and panoramic views across the loch. The compact yet well-equipped kitchen has everything needed for preparing meals, with fresh local seafood available from a nearby fish van delivery service.

The property also includes a bathroom, a separate shower room and a utility area with a washer, dryer and freezer. Outside, guests can enjoy an enclosed garden with outdoor seating, a built-in barbecue, direct access to the beach and a rustic rope swing that is especially popular with children. Additional amenities include Wi-Fi, TV/DVD and a selection of books, maps and board games.

Located just across the loch, the village of Lochcarron sits on the North Coast 500 route and offers a range of amenities including shops, a garage, a golf course, guided kayaking, boat hire and dining options. The nearest pub and restaurant can be found just five minutes away in Strathcarron, while Attadale Gardens is within walking distance. Craigton is also perfectly positioned for exploring nearby highlights such as Skye, Plockton, Eilean Donan Castle, the Torridon mountains and Applecross, home to the award-winning Applecross Inn.
