Coombe Farmhouse – Sleeps 12
Coombe Farmhouse is a beautifully converted modern barn offering spacious and welcoming accommodation for up to 12 guests, with flexible options available for smaller groups of 6 or 8. Full of character and comfort, the interiors feature high vaulted ceilings, teak flooring, original artwork and rich Persian rugs, while cosy log fires in the living room, dining room and kitchen create a warm yet luxurious atmosphere.
The main barn forms the heart of the property, with a large open-plan layout including a fully equipped designer kitchen, a dining area for up to 12 guests and a comfortable lounge complete with a large TV, Blu-ray player and games console. A standout feature is the impressive 12-seat private cinema room, complete with authentic cinema seating, surround sound, a projector screen and even a popcorn machine.
Sleeping arrangements in the main barn include a king-size bedroom and two twin rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and TVs. Additional accommodation is available in an attached barn, which features a private king-size suite with its own terrace, and a separate converted cart shed offering a double and twin bedroom linked by a shared en-suite, making it ideal for larger groups.
Guests can also enjoy a heated indoor swimming pool with doors opening onto the courtyard, as well as landscaped gardens overlooking a stream on one side and vineyards on the other. Outside, stone terraces, a sunny courtyard and a Weber BBQ provide the perfect setting for al fresco dining and relaxation.
Vine Cottage – Sleeps 2
Vine Cottage is a charming and beautifully restored retreat designed for two guests, offering comfort, warmth and a high standard of finish throughout. With underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove, it remains cosy year-round, while its elevated position provides stunning views across the valley, overlooking an ornamental pond and a lively trout stream that attracts herons, ducks and other wildlife.
Inside, the inviting living space centres around an original stone fireplace and includes comfortable seating, a small dining area and French doors opening onto a stone terrace with picturesque views. The well-equipped kitchen features modern appliances and elegant finishes.
Upstairs, the bedroom offers a luxurious king-size bed, ample storage and a peaceful atmosphere enhanced by quality furnishings. The spacious bathroom includes both a bath and overhead shower, finished in a bright, contemporary style.
Outside, the terrace is ideal for relaxing, with garden furniture set among flowers and herbs, making the most of the tranquil surroundings and beautiful sunsets. Ample parking is also available for convenience.
Visiting the Area
Located in the heart of the South Hams, Modbury is ideally positioned for exploring South Devon’s scenic countryside and coastline. Nearby Bigbury-on-Sea offers sandy beaches and views across to Burgh Island, which can be reached on foot at low tide or by sea tractor.
The South West Coast Path runs close by, providing spectacular cliff-top walks and opportunities to spot wildlife. Inland, the historic town of Totnes offers independent shops, cafés and a castle, while Dartmoor National Park features dramatic landscapes, tors and walking routes for all abilities. Closer to Modbury, visitors can enjoy peaceful countryside lanes, traditional pubs and charming villages.
