Bricknell Cottages, Fangfoss, York, East Yorkshire

Bricknell Cottages offers award-winning self-catering accommodation in Fangfoss near York. Set at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds, the four cottages provide an ideal setting for a luxurious countryside break.

Accommodation

The cottages are located on Pear Tree Farm and have been tastefully converted from traditional farm buildings, including the former milking parlour, hay barn, stable, granary, milk dairy and calf-rearing houses.

Each cottage has been furnished to a very high standard, with careful attention to detail throughout the design and build. Reclaimed timber has been used extensively to create character and charm, while thoughtful touches ensure the cottages feel both stylish and welcoming. All bedrooms include en-suite facilities, with some offering double showers and large double-ended baths.

The cottages are warm and comfortable throughout the year. Two are heated using ground source heating, while the other two benefit from air source heat pumps. These systems are powered by solar panels located in the field, along with recently installed battery storage, making the power supply almost entirely self-sufficient.

Each cottage provides excellent home-from-home facilities, including a fridge or fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine or washer dryer, microwave, oven and hob. Smart TVs are available in both the living areas and bedrooms, and high-speed Wi-Fi is provided throughout.

Bed linen, towels, electricity and hairdryers are all included. Guests also have access to a games room, which features a 7ft pool/snooker table, air hockey, football table and a full-size table tennis table.

The cottages are available for a range of stays, from weekend breaks to weekly bookings.

Visiting the Area

The historic city of York is within easy reach of the farm and offers a wide range of attractions. Visitors can explore the National Railway Museum, York Eye, the JORVIK Viking Centre, York Minster and the famous city walls. York Racecourse is also nearby for those wishing to attend race days.

The Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors are both easily accessible for scenic drives, walking and sightseeing. The Yorkshire Wolds stretch from the farm to the well-known East Yorkshire coastal towns of Filey, Bridlington and Scarborough, while Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay lie a little further to the north.
