Just 2 minutes drive or 15 minutes walk through beautiful woodlands, is the bustling fishing village of Tarbert. With shops and restaurants around the harbour and all manner of craft afloat, it makes a picturesque scene to enjoy. There are quite a few craft and souvenir shops that you can browse, some with facilities for afternoon tea.
On the small hill above the village is the substantial ruin of Tarbert Castle with lovely views across the bay to Barfad Farmlands and also across Loch Fyne and Cowal.
During the summer, the "Waverley", the world's last oceangoing paddle steamer visits the pier at Tarbert. Just along the road, a ferry runs to Portavadie on the other side of Loch Fyne. There are other ferries within easy driving in the general area which can take you to the islands for a day trip.
For the energetic, there are numerous walks of varying difficulty. Many commence at the castle in Tarbert which is the beginning of the newly opened Kintyre Way which runs the length of the Kintyre Peninsula – a maximum of 103 miles. Additionally, there are numerous forestry and coastal walks – many also ideal for cycling too

Foxglove and Cow mumble are two-bedroom cottages and each will sleep up to four plus a cot. Like Applecross, they are 'upside down' cottages. Downstairs are 2 bedrooms: 1 double with king-size bed and 1 with a twin-bedded room. There is a separate bathroom/WC with over-bath shower. Upstairs is an open plan living/dining area and a well equipped kitchen area including a dishwasher. Foxglove is very slightly larger (a matter of inches) to allow for a more gentle staircase and slightly larger bathroom - it is, therefore, more suitable for the partially disabled.
There is a range of superb facilities available: with the indoor heated pool and purpose-built indoor soft play area for toddlers (including ball pool, slide, tunnels, loft-house and many other toys) along with tennis, table tennis, pool table and outdoor play areas, there is plenty to keep everyone happy.
The area offers a whole host of local attractions and there is an excellent 11th Century local village pub which is child-friendly. With wonderful sandy beaches within a half-hour drive, the central location makes this is an ideal place for enjoying the lovely coastline that Devon has to offer and exploring the many delights of the area, including Dartmoor National Park which is right on the doorstep.

Weatherham Farm provides two beautiful, pet-friendly cottages converted from a 300-year-old stone barn within Exmoor National Park. The cottages offer all modern conveniences in a traditional farmstead setting surrounded by our lush green fields and with panoramic views over the Exe Valley. It is a 20-minute walk to the local pub in Brompton Regis, two miles to Wimbleball Lake (fishing, sailing, kayaking) and four miles from the pretty Exmoor town of Dulverton. Medieval Dunster with its castle and the coast is only 14 miles away.
Buzzards is a superbly cosy and characterful, dog-friendly, one-bedroom holiday cottage for two people. Refurbished with new kitchen, shower room and furnishings, the king-size bed is made up for you with towels, linens, electricity, heating oil and logs all included. Outside there is an enclosed courtyard with garden furniture and BBQ.
Toads Breech is spacious and conventionally laid out with two bedrooms and a bathroom with bath and shower over upstairs. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and the large second bedroom two full-size singles. Downstairs comprises of a hall, downstairs WC, sitting room and separate kitchen diner. There is a step down into both the sitting room and main bedroom. There is a secure enclosed garden with furniture and BBQ.
As well as the cottage gardens, there is a larger garden area for guests to use and you are welcome to feed the chickens and goats and visit the sheep and lambs in the fields.
Walking books, maps and guides are provided in both cottages for you to use during your stay.
Dogs are loved & very welcome at Weatherham Farm. There will be a spare dog bowl, treats and dog towels in the cottage for your four-legged friends. The owners also try to keep a field or two free of sheep so there is space for a run.
If you enjoy fishing or water sports, the cottages are 2 miles from Wimbleball Lake & within a short drive to Clatworthy Reservoir and the rivers Exe, Barle & Hadeo.

You can visit the renowned Harris Tweed factory which is next to the new Harris Distillery. A range of superb attractions is in the local area including Luskentyre Beach, Isle of Harris Distillery, Seilebost Beach & Clisham.
