For those seeking a unique experience, Lyde Hill Holidays offers five luxury pods, each with stunning views of Duncliffe Wood. Constructed from cedar wood, these pods are heated throughout and feature a double bed, en-suite shower room, compact kitchen, and a small sofa bed suitable for two young children. Outside, guests have their own private space with a BBQ, table, and chairs. Towels and bedding for the double bed are included, with a minimum stay of 2 nights.

Gable Cottage offers delightful self-catering accommodation in the picturesque village of Berwick St John, nestled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Shaftesbury and Dorchester are a short drive away and further afield you can visit a variety of attractions in Dorset.

Accommodation

Our character cottage sleeps up to 6 people plus 2 people in a shepherd’s hut for no further cost. The cottage has been recently refurbished and boasts glorious views of the natural wildflowers. We offer room for a horse trailer and a paddock can cater for up to 2 horses.

Unwind in our sitting room after a day exploring the area. Facilities include a wood burner, flat-screen TV and DVD player. The well-equipped kitchen comes with a range of appliances: a large fridge, electric oven, toaster and microwave oven. A separate pantry houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. A downstairs bathroom comes with a shower over the bath.

Upstairs we have 3 bedrooms. A spacious double room has an original fireplace and there is a medium size double bedroom. A further double room has an original fireplace. All bed linen is supplied.

Outside we have a terrace with garden furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining whilst savouring the countryside views.

We also have a shepherd’s hut for 2 people, with pets welcome.

Visiting Berwick St John & Exploring Dorset

We are in an excellent location for visiting the south coast beaches and towns, plus the market towns of Dorchester, Sherborne and Shaftesbury. Only 12 miles away is the cathedral city of Salisbury and Bath is around 40 minutes away. In the village, you can enjoy some food and drink and The Talbot.

Pond Cottage, Compton Abbas, Shaftesbury, Dorset (Sleeps 1-4)

Pond Cottage provides self-catering accommodation overlooking a small lake. Set in 25 acres of land this is a tranquil hideaway only 1.7 miles from the Dorset town of Shaftesbury. There is plenty of wildlife to watch whilst staying at the cottage and fishing is available in the lake.

This holiday cottage can accommodate 4 people in a twin/double and a king-size bedroom. Both bedrooms are en suite. The cosy living/dining room has wonderful lake and countryside views. Although the kitchen is small it is fully fitted. Outside is a lawned area with seating.

Compton Abbas is a quaint village on the edge of the Blackmore Vale. The small market town of Shaftesbury is close by and is home to the Gold Hill (made famous by the Hovis advert). It also offers a range of shops, places to eat and an outdoor swimming pool.

There are wonderful areas for walking, bird watching and wildlife watching. From the cottage, you can sometimes spot a deer or even an otter.

With private off street parking, Easter Cottage is set in a beautiful private courtyard in the heart of the historic market town of Shaftesbury. The famous Gold Hill is a five-minute level stroll away.

This outstanding property sleeps up to 4 people and comes with a range of excellent facilities. Close attention has been paid to every detail.

A stylish and well-equipped kitchen comes with a variety of appliances. You unwind in the relaxing living room which comes with comfy seating, an electric wood burner to keep you toasty and a dining table. French windows open to a lovely patio area with a table and chairs. A great spot for an afternoon glass of wine whilst the sun is shining. A second patio area with seating is also available.

Two cosy bedrooms are available, one with a king-size bed and one with twin beds. Both share a modern bathroom. Fluffy white towels and white cotton sheets are provided.

Easter Cottage is a fantastic base for exploring a range of excellent attractions in the local area. A pool is only a 2-minute walk from the property and in town, you can wander around tea shops and small independent shops. The town is one of the oldest and highest in England. You can also hike up Gold Hill and visit the Gold Hill Museum. Lots of superb attractions are in the local area including Shaftesbury Abbey & Museum, Longleat Safari Park & House, Lulworth Castle & Park, Hayes Motor Museum & Cerne Abbas Giant.

Whitebridge Farm offers magnificent self catering accommodation in Shaftesbury. Set in 10 acres of grounds in Dorset, our cottages are grouped around a pretty grassed courtyard. All the cottages have been beautifully renovated to offer high quality accommodation whilst retaining their original features. All the properties are child friendly and we have lots of wonderful facilities onsite.

The Barn is a beautiful barn conversion that comes with double full height glazed doors leading into the dining area and a separate cloakroom. A full-size farmhouse kitchen comes with a large kitchen table. On the ground floor, there is a double and twin en suite room. Twin staircases lead to a twin en suite room and a second staircase leads onto a spacious sitting room.

Pond Cottage has two twin en suite rooms. A further double room is also available. You can relax in the sitting room which leads onto a conservatory with a dining table and a fully equipped kitchen comes with a range of appliances. A ramp for wheelchair access from the garden is available. Outside there is an enclosed lawned garden with garden furniture and a Webber BBQ. Ideal for a spot of al fresco dining. 

Corner Cottage was converted from old farm stables and is tastefully furnished throughout. Bedrooms consist of a double en suite and a twin room. Both rooms share a bathroom with a shower. The open plan sitting/kitchen/dining area will suit all your needs.

Dairy Cottage has an open plan kitchen/dining/sitting area. The two twin bedrooms adjoin the sitting room and come with en suite facilities.

Orchard Cottage is a ground level cottage with a large open plan kitchen/dining/sitting area to enjoy. There is a comfortable double bedroom and a bathroom. 

The Linney was converted from a farm stable to offer superb accommodation. Inside there is an open plan kitchen/dining/sitting area. Two twin bedrooms come with en suite facilities. 

Stable Cottage is a single storey property perfect for a romantic break. The open plan kitchen/diner/sitting room will suit all your needs. A twin room comes with en suite facilities.

You can visit a range of wonderful attractions while staying with us. Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre is set amongst 65 acres of grounds and houses 150 primates to see. Brewers Quay is a shopping village packed with specialist shops and attractions. Situated within the historic Hope Square, Brewers Quay offers a great experience for the whole family.
