Accommodation
Hamarsay House has been described by previous guests as a true "home from home", offering plenty of space and all the comforts needed for a relaxing self catering holiday.
The property sleeps up to 7 people across four bedrooms, comprising a master bedroom, a double bedroom, a twin room and a single room. There is also a shower room with a toilet and a separate bathroom with toilet facilities.
The comfortable living room features a log-burning stove set into the fireplace, creating a warm and inviting place to relax after a day exploring Scalpay, Harris and the surrounding islands.

Outside Hamarsay House
The property is surrounded by a stockproof wooden fence with access gates, providing a secure garden where young children and pets can enjoy the outdoor space. A generous tarmac driveway offers off-street parking for more than six vehicles.
One of the highlights of Hamarsay House is its access to a small bay, where seals can often be spotted basking on the rocks. Wild otters are also known to cross the croft on their way to the shore.
The surrounding area is rich in wildlife, making it a wonderful destination for birdwatching, seal spotting and simply enjoying the natural surroundings. The 10-acre croft is also ideal for dog walking and offers direct access to the shore via a slipway.
From the higher points of the croft, guests can enjoy magnificent panoramic views across the sea, the Minch and the surrounding islands.
Exploring Scalpay, Harris & Lewis
Hamarsay House provides an excellent base for exploring Scalpay and the wider Harris and Lewis area. Scalpay is connected by a toll-free bridge, making it easy for guests to discover more of this spectacular part of the Outer Hebrides.
The village has a modern children's playpark and community hall, while local grocery and butcher vans visit regularly upon request.
Guests can also enjoy excellent local dining, including fresh seafood, or spend their days discovering the many outdoor activities available across the islands.
Cycle hire is available on-site, while the surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for cycling, walking and fishing. Fishing equipment for one rod is provided free of charge.
Beach lovers will also find some spectacular stretches of sand within easy reach, including the renowned Luskentyre Beach, approximately 20 minutes away.

A walk to the historic Eilean Glas Lighthouse is highly recommended during a stay at Hamarsay House. The surrounding landscape is perfect for hiking and wildlife watching, while diving and boating offer further opportunities to experience the area's spectacular coastline.
Boat trips can also be taken to nearby uninhabited islands, including the Shiants, providing a memorable way to discover more of the Outer Hebrides.
