Salutation Yard offers self-catering accommodation in the small village of Skelton near the market town of Penrith in Cumbria. There are a total of three self-catering cottages that have been converted from farm buildings to provide high-quality accommodation.

The holiday cottages offer the same features and facilities including an electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven, cutlery, crockery and a range of cooking utensils. The living areas all offer comfortable seating, a TV, DVD player and a log effect fire.

The village of Skelton has a village pub, which is within walking distance from the cottages. Here you can enjoy great food and drink. There are many things to do in the local area including walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing, golf and much more.

Guests can visit the Whinlatter Forest Park, which is England's only true mountain forest, which offers spectacular views of the Lake District.

Aira Force in Ulswater is one of the most famous waterfalls in The Lake District. Aira Force provides a glimpse of a landscaped Victorian park with dramatic waterfalls, arboretum and rocks scenery.

Blandswath Cottage, Kirkby Stephen, Sedbergh, Cumbria (Sleeps 1-6)

Blandswath Cottage is spacious and comfortably furnished holiday cottage that is located on the banks of the River Eden and is only a 5-minute drive from the centre of Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria. Our holiday cottage can sleep up to 6 people and is in an ideal location for exploring Cumbria.

The living room has a multi-fuel stove and comfy sofas, giving you a wonderful place to relax at the end of a busy day. In the winter months, this feels like a little slice of heaven. There is a well-equipped kitchen and a utility room that has a toilet, hand basin and a washer/tumble dryer.

Our kitchen, living and dining room are well equipped with all the facilities and utensils you may need during your stay.

The 4 bedrooms are upstairs and are made up ready for your arrival. The bedrooms are set up as 2 doubles and 2 single rooms, a travel cot and high chair are available, but cot bedding is not included.

Outside in the garden is a children’s slide and sandpit as well as garden furniture and a BBQ. This is a great place to relax with the family on those warm summer days.

Blandswath Cottage is situated in The Eden Valley, the hidden jewel in the crown of Cumbria. Lying between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks the Eden Valley offers uncrowded space amidst beautiful rolling countryside. Anglers fishing the River Eden can walk from the cottage to the banks in just a few minutes. In addition to the single ticket available to guest’s additional day, fishing permits are available from the local Angling Club.

Rambling, cycling, bird watching, golf and fishing are just a few of the outdoor activities available to guests. There are many walks in the immediate vicinity of the cottage. There is little need to drive. The nearby footpaths take in river, woodland and fell scenery. Just a few miles south, along a scenic route, is the old town of Sedbergh with its narrow, cobbled streets.

Barn Owl Cottage, Hutton-in-the-Forest, Penrith, Cumbria (Sleeps 1-5)

Barn Owl Cottage is converted from a 17th Century barn, next door to the owners' home near Penrith in Cumbria. It has great character, with exposed beams and stonework.

The cottage has 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom and 1 single bedroom.

Upstairs, the cottage has an open plan lounge, dining area, kitchen and 1 single bedroom. Double doors lead onto an outside sun balcony with stairs down to the garden area. Downstairs the cottage has an entrance with utility area, bathroom with over-bath shower, 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom.

The holiday cottage has full central heating. Upstairs has underfloor heating, plus a woodburning stove.

There is a TV and DVD player in the lounge, plus a TV in one of the bedrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher. The washing machine and tumble drier are downstairs near the utility area.

The cottage has its own private driveway and garden area with a picnic bench.

All bed linen, towels, duvets, tea towels and central heating are provided as part of the hire charge. Two baskets of logs per week are provided for the woodburning stove.

One small/medium size dog is allowed. The dog must not be left unattended in the property and it must be kept on a lead when outside. An additional charge of £20 per week per dog.

The cottage is well situated for visiting the Eden Valley and North Lakes. We are 30 minutes from Lake Ullswater, Keswick and Carlisle. All amenities are available in Penrith (10 minutes away) and there is a shop, post office and pub in the village of Skelton (1 mile).

The bathroom, double, and twin bedded rooms upstairs, are reached by an elegant pitch pine stairway.

Accommodation:
Centrally heated, the cottage also has a wood burning stove.
Electricity, central heating and fuel for the wood burner are included in the fee.
Bed linen and towels are also provided.

Clifford Courtyard is situated just behind the main street in the centre of Brough. There is plenty of off-road parking to the rear of the property.

There are several restaurants in the village and a good fish and chip shop, plenty of choice to eat out. A small grocers shop is just over the road. In Kirkby Stephen, a short drive away, are food shops, butchers, greengrocers and Chinese and Indian restaurants.
