Stay on The Hill, Fourstones, Hexham, Northumberland

Set high above the River Tyne, Stay on the Hill offers an inviting retreat in the heart of the Northumberland Tyne Valley, just moments from the iconic Hadrian’s Wall. With sweeping countryside views and a wonderfully secluded setting, it provides the perfect place to slow down and explore the rich history and natural beauty of the area. The beautifully refurbished three-bedroom Laverick Cottage and the charming one-bedroom Bothy each benefit from their own private garden, creating calm, self-catering havens where guests can relax and unwind while taking in the surrounding landscape.

Laverick Cottage
Laverick Cottage is accessed via a spacious entrance porch with ample room for coats and outdoor footwear, leading into a thoughtfully designed interior. The fully equipped kitchen features a large island with breakfast bar, electric range cooker, American fridge freezer and integrated dishwasher, with French doors opening onto a private patio and extended garden. The open-plan dining area seats up to eight and flows into a cosy lounge with a feature fireplace, wood-burning stove and additional French doors leading to the south-facing garden.

Upstairs, the master bedroom enjoys spectacular countryside views through a picture window and offers a super king bed that can be arranged as twins, along with an en-suite bathroom featuring a roll-top bath and separate shower. The twin bedroom also benefits from an en-suite shower room and sunny south-facing views. On the ground floor, a generous bedroom provides a further super king bed, again convertible to twins, with its own en-suite shower room. Throughout the cottage, all beds are finished with luxury mattress toppers, Egyptian cotton sheets, soft pillows and large fluffy towels to ensure a truly restful stay.

The Bothy
The Bothy is a beautifully designed, single-level retreat with a full-height ceiling and exposed beams, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. Guests enter through an entrance porch with a useful utility area, including a washing machine, tumble dryer and separate WC. The spacious bedroom features a super king bed that can be arranged as twins and an en-suite shower room. The comfortable lounge includes an electric fire and flat-screen TV, while the well-equipped kitchen offers an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. Sweeping views across the Northumbrian countryside can be enjoyed throughout, and outside a private garden with patio, barbecue and seating area overlooks the valley, providing the perfect space to relax and take in the scenery.
