Grindon Farm, Haydon Bridge, Hexham, Northumberland (Sleeps 1-11)


Grindon Farm is situated at Haydon Bridge near Hexham nestled within the Northumberland National Park commanding spectacular, panoramic rural views. We provide an ideal base for walking and cycling holidays in beautiful Hadrian’s Wall country, or a peaceful retreat for some well deserved rest and relaxation!

The Old Farmhouse
Our cosy self catering cottage has been sympathetically converted from the original eighteenth century farmhouse and commands spectacular views of the surrounding countryside to the South.

The lounge / dining area has large windows, taking full advantage of the beautiful views, which can now be enjoyed with the additional comfort of our recently installed wood buring stove. Outside, the cottage has its own private garden with picnic table and chairs, and barbecue facilities.

The lounge / dining area opens directly onto the balcony, which also provides same-level access back to the main entrance.

The holiday cottage has 2 cosy bedrooms and can sleep 4 people (an extra bed is available to accommodate a fifth person). Each bedroom has an en-suite facility with shower and has been designed with mobility impaired guests also in mind.

Our self catering accommodation has recently been awarded a Bronze Award under the North East England Tourism Awards 2011, and Four Stars Gold Award under the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence Scheme.

Grindon Cartshed
Our beautiful barn conversion can be offered as self-catering accommodation. The property commands spectacular views down the Tyne valley.

The Cartshed has 3 bedrooms with en-suite facilities and can sleep up to 6 people offering Level 2 mobility accommodatiom.

The lounge and dining area has large floor to ceiling windows, taking full advantage of the beautiful views! Outside the accommodation is a private garden with picnic table and chairs, and barbecue facilities.

Each bedroom has an en-suite facility with shower and has been designed with mobility impaired guests also in mind.

Our holiday accommodation at Grindon Cartshed has been awarded Four Star Gold status under the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence Scheme.

Local Area
The nearby market town of Hexham situated in the beautiful Tyne Valley, offers great restaurants and shopping as well as many medieval buildings. Chief amongst these is the imposing Abbey dating from 674AD. Three miles further along the valley brings you to the pretty village of Corbridge with its upmarket shops, cafes and restaurants and the old roman town of Corstopitum.

Slightly further afield, the county town of Alnwick boasts a truly magnificent castle (featured prominently in the Harry Potter movies) and the Alnwick Garden - a fascinating contemporary garden with spectacular water features and one of the world's largest wooden treehouses. A short hop to the coast from Alnwick brings you to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty a dramatic coastline dotted with romantic castles - visit Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, Warkworth and Lindisfarne.

Nestled in the heart of the award-winning Kielder Water & Forest Park, Calvert Kielder offers fabulous self-catering accommodation. The chalets are set in their own 40-acre woodland with picture perfect views of the surrounding area, a wonderful environment in which to discover the local wildlife, breathe in the fresh, clean air and explore the vast countryside. They have an array of self-catering properties to choose from, offering 3, 4 or 7 nights, which are spacious and with varying levels of accessibility. Accommodation
The Straker Chalet
This stunning chalet is designed in a modern Swedish style and is designed to the highest standard, perfect for an unforgettable getaway. The property comes with three beautiful bedrooms: a master en suite with a super king bed (with discreet overbed hoist), one king room and a twin room. A well-equipped kitchen comes with a lovely dining area and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Special features include a 55’’ smart HD 3D TV, Free Sat TV in all the bedrooms, a log burning stove, electric car charge point, a private terrace for al fresco dining and an eco-friendly wood fired hot tub to soak your troubles away. This is a pet free chalet.

The Bradbury Chalet
This stylish chalet come comes with a master suite (with discreet overbed hoist) including a shower, steam room and spa bath complete with a TV so you can view your favourite shows whilst bathing. The gorgeous open plan living area has bi-fold doors which take advantage of the view. Outside there is a private terrace for al fresco dining, a BBQ and Jacuzzi hot tub to unwind in. The 2-bedroom chalet, comprising a king and a twin bedroom (2’3” beds), also includes Free Sat TV in the lounge, bedrooms and master bathroom. This is a pet free chalet.

The McArdle Chalet
This modern chalet is the perfect place to escape from the pressures of modern life. The chalet features a Jack and Jill bathroom which is accessible from both the master bedroom (with discreet overbed hoist) and the twin/superking bedroom. Inside there is a delightful open plan kitchen and living area which is great for dining in or relaxing with friends or family. Bi-fold doors open to a private terrace, the ideal spot for a coffee in the morning sun whilst savouring the glorious views. Special features include Free Sat TVs in the lounge and bedrooms and a luxurious Jacuzzi hot tub. This is a pet friendly chalet.

The Spoor & Spedding Chalets
The most recent addition to the chalets are The Spoor and The Spedding. Each chalet is great for large families or small groups and sleeps up to 12 in 5 bedrooms, including 3 en suites. An additional family bathroom is also available. A charming open plan kitchen/dining/living area comes with Freesat TV and is the perfect place to relax after a day of activities. The kitchen is well-equipped and outside there is a private terrace and shared communal BBQ area. These are both pet friendly chalets.

Calvert Chalets
These 4-star Scandinavian style chalets are spacious and equipped with everything you need for a special holiday. 5 of the specially designed accessible chalets are near the centre building and have one double and two twin bedrooms, sleeping 6. The hillside chalets can sleep up to 7 people in 1 double, 1 twin and a third bedroom consisting of a single and bunk beds. All the chalets include a well-equipped kitchen, bathroom with level entry shower, private balcony or decking area. Some chalets are equipped with profiling beds, ceiling track hoists and a select few are pet friendly.
