West Cottage
West Cottage is a luxurious stone-built self-catering cottage located in the heart of Northumberland, an area renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and close proximity to Hadrian’s Wall.
Originally part of an 18th-century byre and granary, the cottage has been carefully converted into a warm and inviting holiday home that perfectly combines traditional character with modern comfort. Exposed original stonework, oak features and a cosy wood-burning stove create a charming countryside atmosphere throughout the property.
The cottage offers spacious open-plan accommodation while maintaining a warm and homely feel. Upstairs, the staircase divides to lead to a double bedroom on one side and a twin bedroom on the other, both featuring en-suite bathrooms with large rose-head showers and oil-fired central heating.
The sitting area centres around a grand oak lintel fireplace with a wood-burning stove, while the kitchen and dining spaces are beautifully designed with handmade cabinetry, granite worktops and underfloor heating throughout the tiled ground floor. Large glazed doorways allow natural light to flood the space and can be opened during warmer months to enjoy the fresh countryside air.
Guests staying at West Cottage can also enjoy seasonal produce from the garden, free-range eggs and Dexter beef from the farm. An owner’s art studio is located just steps away, providing additional inspiration and creativity during a stay.
West Cottage is also well suited for special celebrations, events and corporate groups, with opportunities for informal suppers, summer BBQs and workshops including art, cookery, flower arranging and blacksmithing.
The property is committed to environmentally friendly living, using renewable energy, composting, home-grown food and supporting local producers, alongside planting one hundred trees.
Situated in an excellent location for exploring Northumberland, guests are within easy reach of stately homes, beautiful gardens, museums and historic market towns. Hadrian’s Wall, one of the country’s most famous Roman landmarks, is just a short drive away.
Rates range from £621 to £929 per week depending on the season.
The cottage accommodates up to four guests. Children and dogs are welcome, with dogs charged at £30 per stay.
