Halgabron Mill self catering offers 4 cottages which are situated on the North Cornish coast of South West England. They lie in St. Nectan’s Glen, a densely wooded valley located between the villages of Tintagel and Boscastle. The Mill takes its name from the small hamlet of Halgabron which lies immediately above it, towards Tintagel. The main building complex consists of a three storied former water mill, believed to date from the 18th Century, with a substantial house attached and with a second cottage adjoining its north corner. It ceased to be a working mill in the late 1800’s.
Mill Cottage
This picturesque cottage has delightful views over the millstream to the gardens and the woods beyond. The sitting room has an Inglenook fireplace with a woodburning stove. There are exposed beams and lead latticed windows. There is a separate and well equipped kitchen that leads off the dining end of the sitting room. There are two bedrooms, one with a four poster bed and the other with two single beds. There is an attractive bathroom and separate w.c. It is double glazed throughout. There is a cot and high chair.
Miller’s House
Adjoining the Mill itself Miller’s House is entered through a traditional oak door. From a small lobby there is a spacious and comfortable sitting room with leaded glass windows and with a Cornish fireplace and wood burning stove. There is a large modern kitchen/dining room with pine fittings and furniture. This leads to an inner hallway with stairs to the bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed and ensuite bathroom/w.c. The twin also has an en-suite bathroom/w.c. It is double glazed throughout. There is a cot and highchair.
Coachman’s Cottage
Coachman’s Cottage is a small detached studio cottage converted from former stables. The walls are white with lead latticed windows. A stable door opens into the living room, which extends to the full roof height and has attractive exposed beams. An interesting slate fireplace houses a small wood-burning stove. There is a loft type sleeping gallery with double bed overlooking the living room, reached by a steep ladder. All the furnishings are of a high quality. There is a small open plan and well equipped kitchen. There is also a bathroom/w.c., with a bath and electric shower. There is an electric and Microwave oven.
Millstream Cottage
Mill Stream Cottage is a tiny detached attractive single story cottage in its own gated patio garden beside the Millstream, with an unusual twelve sided conical slate roof. It is entered by way of a small porch and an inner gothic doorway which leads directly into a circular room which acts as both sitting room and bedroom, having a slumberland sofabed that converts to a full size double bed. To one side is a small kitchen with a dining area and an adjacent bathroom with a bath and electric shower. An inner doorway opens to a separate w.c. Bed linen and general electricity is inclusive. Garden furniture is provided on the more secluded patio at the rear.
