The Courtyard, Swinton, Coldstream, Scottish Borders (Sleeps 1-5)


The Courtyard is a luxury cottage providing spacious and charming accommodation located just outside the village of Swinton. The village is a 10-minute drive from Coldsteam, a historic town that is popular for its Coldstream Civic Week each August.

About The Accommodation
The Courtyard accommodates up to 5 people. Ideal for a couple or a family as there is a double and a single bedroom plus a double sofa bed. It is very spacious allowing for free movement for wheelchair users. The bathroom has been adapted with a wheel in shower and cloakroom. A fully fitted kitchen includes all your home-from-home essentials.

Visiting Swinton & Exploring Scottish Borders
Swinton village centre is a short walk away. It is an ideal base when exploring the Scottish Borders.

Nearby attractions include:

Etal Castle.
Twizell Castle.
Lake of the Hirsel.
Coldstream Museum.
The attractive town of Kelso, including Floors Castle.

The Scottish Borders has more than its share of interesting places to visit. When you arrive here you will be impressed by the beauty and peacefulness of it all. The River Tweed runs through this beautiful land of rolling hills and the occasional dormant volcanos. Popular with walkers the volcanos include Eildon Hills at Melrose and the Black Hill near Earlston. For the artist with canvas and paint there are endless subjects to capture. Trout and salmon fishing is a major attraction as the River Tweed and its tributaries are excellent for both.

Monks played a major part in the goings on of border folk. They built abbeys to live and work in throughout the borders and there are some fine ruins to see to this day. Roman artefacts and Forts are still being discovered with Trimontium Fort near Newstead being the source of many discoveries. There is a museum at Melrose Abbey where you can see many of the Roman artefacts found.

Bowmont Cottage, Mindrum, Coldstream, Northumberland (Sleeps 1-4)


Bowmont Cottage in Mindrum offers charming self-catering accommodation on a family-run farm. Based in a wonderful countryside position in Northumberland, we are a paradise for tranquillity and relaxation.

Our ground-level property boasts wonderful views over the fields and towards the Cheviot Hills.

Two superb bedrooms come with comfortable beds. The master room has a double bed and the second bedroom has twin beds. A travel cot and folding camp bed are both available. Both rooms share a shower room with a shower, heated towels rail, WC and handbasin.

We are in a fabulous position, only a 5-minute walk from the Scottish border and close to Northumberland National Park. The nearby town of Wooler has five pubs, two wine bars, cafes and takeaways. Walkers and cyclists can enjoy the glorious routes and trails dotted around The Cheviot Hills, with Breamish Valley Hillfort Trail, Hetha’s Hike and Three Forts Foray offering some of the best.

Megs and Nellie's are two self catering holiday cottages that are nestled in the heart of the Scottish Borders, just a mile from the town of Coldstream. The holiday cottages are surrounded by countryside, making them ideal for people who enjoy walking, cycling and enjoying the fresh country air!

Meg’s Cottage
This holiday cottage sleeps up to six people in three bedrooms. It has plenty of personality and guests really enjoy the open fire, which even comes with an unlimited supply of logs in winter months. 

Nellie’s Cottage
Nellie’s cottage also sleeps up to six people. Like Meg’s the cottage has plenty of character and benefits from an open fire in the sitting room, which also comes with an unlimited supply of logs too.

Naturally, all the bed linen and towels are included in your stay at both cottages. Central heating is provided by night storage heaters. A highchair and travel cot are available in both cottages.

Meg’s and Nellie’s cottages really are a fantastic base from which to discover and explore the whole of the region. Just on the border of Scotland and England, the cottages are in a prime location overlooking the River Tweed, which for centuries has been the geographic border frontier. As a once-formidable barrier, the Tweed today offers guests of the cottages the opportunity to enjoy some world-class trout and salmon fishing.

Boathouse Cottage, Norham, Coldstream, Scottish Borders


Boathouse Cottage stands on its own by the banks of the River Tweed. At the end of a quiet country lane, this self catering holiday cottage is about half a mile from the centre of Norham village. Located between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Coldstream on the Scottish border it is an ideal holiday cottage for exploring the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland.

You enter Boathouse Cottage through an enclosed entrance porch giving direct access to a new and spacious kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is comprehensively equipped. The dining area has matching settings for six persons but is large enough to seat 8 to 10 persons with additional settings provided.

All guest rooms face the front and have views of the River Tweed and beyond.

It has its own garden and commands superb views to and across the river as well as up and downstream. Behind the cottage is a bank with mature woodland. Visitors stand a good chance of seeing a wide range of wildlife during their visit. 

Our lovely cottage has easy access to a number of waymarked quiet country walks and footpaths along the Tweed and into the surrounding countryside. Enjoy seeing the local wildlife. Tweed defines the Border here so you can walk in England or Scotland. If you’re bringing bicycles why not try the Tweed Cycleway which you can join across Norham Bridge. Or you can hire bikes locally from Wilson Cycles Tel: 01289-331476. Norham itself has a rich Border History, with historic St Cuthbert’s church a “must see”. The village is dominated by the ruins of Norham Castle, scene of many famous events. There are two pubs, a village shop and a newsagent and an excellent butcher you’ll find most things you need in the village during your stay.
