Hartshanger is an elegant Edwardian gentleman's residence set above the village of Porlock in the heart of Exmoor National Park. Converted from the servant’s quarters of the main house and the old coach house, the two flats at Hartshanger, High Hanger and Little Hanger, provide guests with a unique and relaxing getaway.

High Hanger, located in the former servant’s quarters on the second floor of the main house, sleeps four guests. The flat includes a double room with a washbasin and an artistically painted ceiling, as well as a twin room with a circular window offering sea views. The bathroom features a roll-top bath with a shower mixer, and there is a separate WC with a basin, as well as a shower room with an electric shower. The sitting room is furnished with cane furniture and opens onto a balcony with a table and chairs. A ladder leads to a roof terrace equipped with sun loungers for enjoying the panoramic views. The kitchen, dining, and lounge area includes a dining table for four, a large sofa, and modern kitchen facilities, including a flatbed combined microwave, grill, and convection oven.

Both flats come fully equipped with bed linen, bath and hand towels, and all necessary kitchen appliances, including kettles, toasters, and cafetières. Little Hanger has a full-sized oven and dishwasher, while High Hanger includes a microwave, grill, and convection oven. Guests also have access to a shared laundry room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, and hanging airer. Bike storage and a freezer are also available for guests’ use.

The village of Porlock is lively and welcoming, offering a range of amenities and attractions. Visitors can explore two churches, a library, a medical practice, and a visitor centre. The village is home to a variety of shops, including two small supermarkets, a butcher, a pharmacy, a hardware store, a Post Office, art galleries, and antique shops.
