Upstairs, guests can unwind in a luxurious oak four-poster bed, while the elegant en-suite bathroom includes both a bath and separate shower. Cosy window seats on the staircase and in the bedroom provide peaceful spots to admire the stunning views across Low Fell and Carling Knott.

Brackenthwaite – Sleeps 2

Located within the former Coach House, Brackenthwaite is a stylish first-floor retreat with a spacious open-plan living area and a charming window seat overlooking Brackenthwaite Hows and Grasmoor. The elegant bedroom features a carved oak four-poster bed, William Morris wallpaper and bespoke Harris Tweed curtains, with spectacular views towards Swinside Fell, Whiteside and Grasmoor. Howe House – Sleeps 4 (Dog Friendly)

Originally the property's hayloft, Howe House has been thoughtfully converted into a charming two-storey cottage while retaining its original oak beams and character. Downstairs, guests will find a cosy living room with comfortable seating and a modern kitchen overlooking the traditional cobbled courtyard. Upstairs are a king-size master bedroom, two single bedrooms and a family bathroom featuring both a bath and separate shower. Beautiful views of Brackenthwaite Hows and Grasmoor complete this welcoming cottage.

Lanthwaite – Sleeps 2 (Dog Friendly)

Lanthwaite is a welcoming ground-floor cottage offering step-free accommodation within the historic Coach House. The open-plan living space combines a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and original artwork, while the spacious sleeping area features a super king-size bed that can also be arranged as twins upon request. Original oak beams add character throughout, while a separate dressing room and stylish bathroom with a bath and overhead shower ensure a relaxing stay.

Shell – Sleeps 2

Shell is a character-filled cottage situated in the heart of the historic Coach House, with direct access from the traditional cobbled courtyard. The spacious open-plan living area blends exposed Lakeland stone walls with a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable seating, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Upstairs, a handcrafted oak staircase leads to a luxurious carved oak four-poster bed overlooking Grasmoor, complemented by a generous en-suite bathroom with both a bath and separate shower.

Sheila's – Sleeps 4

Sheila's is a beautifully designed cottage overlooking the Scale Hill gardens and Low Fell. The spacious living area features original artwork, a Lakeland stone fireplace, Harris Tweed sofas and an elegant oak parquet floor. French doors open onto a private garden and patio, providing the perfect place to relax or dine outdoors while enjoying panoramic valley views. Upstairs are two luxurious en-suite bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and the other with a super king-size bed that can be arranged as twins on request. Both bedrooms feature bathrooms with a bath and separate shower.

The holiday cottages are situated on Paddle Beck, creating a peaceful ambience complemented by 10 acres of grounds, which include a woodland, wildlife meadow, pond, and arboretum. Southwaite Green is ideally positioned on the north-western edge of the Lake District, a short drive from Cockermouth and within 20 to 30 minutes of Keswick by car. For those who enjoy cycling, the route to Keswick takes about 3 hours, mostly on the Coast to Coast route. Cockermouth, a lovely Georgian town, offers art galleries, museums, cafes, pubs, and a variety of shops and a supermarket. Keswick, slightly larger and very popular with tourists, sits on Derwentwater and has much to offer in terms of sights, activities, and dining options. These four self-contained, luxury holiday cottages are converted from barns and are furnished to a very high standard to meet the needs of holidaymakers. You can also book multiple cottages at once to accommodate larger groups—up to 16 people, with discounts available for group bookings.

Our 4* holiday cottages are set up in a private lane on our 200-acre working farm giving a relaxing and peaceful setting for you to enjoy a lake district holiday. We offer 4 self-contained, Holiday Cottages which have been created within recently converted Barns. They have all been furnished to a very high standard, taking into consideration the needs of you the Holiday-maker.

This is a very quiet, peaceful rural area but only a few miles away from the local Towns of Keswick & Cockermouth, both of which have a good selection of shops for food and other commodities.

The local pub is 4 miles away which serves excellent home-cooked meals and has a selection of local Ales, or in Cockermouth itself, there is a very wide selection of pubs and restaurants to choose from. You can also book more than one of our cottages at a time for a family or group holiday. In total, we have a sleeping capacity of up to 16 plus travel cots, discounts are available for group bookings, please ask.

All kitchens are fully fitted with all cutlery, crockery and cooking equipment and all appliances including dishwasher and microwave. There is ample fridge space in each cottage but there is an extra fridge and freezer space available in the laundry room Travel cot, highchair and many other children’s items are available free of charge for use during your stay, please look at our website for further information. All cottages have a free Wi-Fi connection. Outside we offer a Communal Patio with a Sitting-out area, Patio furniture and shared BBQ. There is ample free parking with all our cottages. Laundry room with washing and drying facilities (Dryer chargeable), payphone, a large selection of local information, computer with an internet connection and recycling facilities.

We have a fully enclosed children’s playing field with football nets, plenty of space to burn off some steam, and a Children’s adventure tower complex - with a tower deck, slide, rock wall climber, swings, ladders with picnic tables underneath. On the large patio area, there is plenty of ride-on vehicles and a wooden playhouse with a play kitchen, perfect to keep children happy while adults relax and take in our stunning views over the local fells and Skiddaw.

Our purpose-built games room for the cottages, including a pool table, darts board, games console etc has been an excellent addition to our facilities, providing hours.

Linskeldfield Farm has its own natural birdwatching tarn. Here you can use our 12-man purpose-built bird hide to watch the wild birds, ducks, geese and other water birds including our resident swans and otters. The osprey viewpoint at Dodd Woods is only a 10-minute drive away. If you like to cycle, we have many cycleways close by, we have ample secure storage for your bikes.

Beckside:
This charming property has two single beds in the downstairs bedroom which can be made into a super king. Downstairs there is a lavish bathroom with a bath and separate shower. A cosy open plan living, kitchen and dining area comes with a built-in fireplace and an original log burning stove. The south-facing sun lounge/dining area comes with comfy seating and overlooks the terrace and countryside. Stairs lead to a galleried landing which leads to 2 king-size en suite shower rooms.

Buttermere:
This fabulous cottage comes with a delightful open plan living area with a magnificent fireplace and toasty log-burning stove. Extra space for wheelchairs is also available. The kitchen is well-equipped and the dining table overlooks the garden. Two double bedrooms are available, including one with space for turning wheelchairs around in. The wet room has been adapted for wheelchairs users and features a walk-in shower with a pull-down seat and disabled facilities.

Esther’s Barn:
This lovely cottage has a double and twin bedroom, with both including luxurious en suite shower rooms. The twin beds can be made as a super king. Upstairs there is a relaxing open plan living/kitchen/dining area, plus a wood-burning stove for the winter months. French windows open to a decked patio area that offers fantastic views.

Skiddaw:
This wonderful cottage has two en suite bedrooms on the ground floor, a double and twin room. Both rooms can be made into a super king. Upstairs unwind in the open plan living/kitchen/dining area which overlooks the courtyard. Outside there is a decked patio area with seating for al fresco dining when the sun is shining.

Well behaved dogs are allowed, but please remember that this is sheep country and you will need to keep the dog under control at all times. There is an extra charge of £3 per day per dog.

Southwaite Green lies on the North-Western edge of the Lake District, 5 minutes from Cockermouth and 20 to 30 minutes from Keswick, driving. Cockermouth is a lovely 40-minute walk across the fields, beside the river, but be careful with dogs as the fields often contain livestock! Cycling to Keswick takes around 3 hours, mostly on the Coast to Coast route. Cockermouth is a beautiful little Georgian town, with art galleries, museums, cafes, pubs and its own auction house, as well as shops and a supermarket.

Keswick is a popular tourist destination on Derwentwater, a little larger than Cockermouth, with plenty to see do, eat and drink. As well as these you can also explore the towns around the Solway Firth, such as Maryport and Allonby, or head north to Carlisle and the Scottish Border and Roman Wall. Of course, the country around Southwaite Green is naturally stunning, with mountains, lakes and valleys all in easy reach walking, cycling or driving.
