Each cottage is beautifully furnished, equipped with all the necessities for a relaxing stay.
Beckside features two single beds in the downstairs bedroom that can be combined into a super king. It boasts a lavish bathroom with both a bath and separate shower on the ground floor, alongside a cozy open-plan living, kitchen, and dining area complete with a built-in fireplace and original log-burning stove. The south-facing sun lounge/dining area offers comfortable seating and picturesque views over the terrace and surrounding countryside.
Buttermere is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring an open-plan living area with a fireplace and log-burning stove. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the dining table provides lovely garden views. It includes two double bedrooms, one specially adapted for wheelchair users. The wet room is also wheelchair-friendly, featuring a walk-in shower with a pull-down seat.
Esther’s Barn offers a double and a twin bedroom, each with luxurious en suite shower rooms. The twin beds can also be configured as a super king. Skiddaw includes two en suite bedrooms on the ground floor—a double and a twin, both of which can be converted into a super king. Guests can unwind in the open-plan living/kitchen/dining area upstairs, which overlooks the courtyard. Outside, a decked patio area with seating makes for ideal alfresco dining.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, though there is an extra charge of £3 per day per dog. Visitors should keep dogs under control, especially since the area often contains livestock.
Southwaite Green is ideally positioned on the north-western edge of the Lake District, a short drive from Cockermouth and within 20 to 30 minutes of Keswick by car. For those who enjoy cycling, the route to Keswick takes about 3 hours, mostly on the Coast to Coast route. Cockermouth, a lovely Georgian town, offers art galleries, museums, cafes, pubs, and a variety of shops and a supermarket. Keswick, slightly larger and very popular with tourists, sits on Derwentwater and has much to offer in terms of sights, activities, and dining options. Beyond these, guests can explore towns around the Solway Firth like Maryport and Allonby or venture north to Carlisle and the Scottish Border and Roman Wall. The stunning natural landscape around Southwaite Green, with its mountains, lakes, and valleys, provides ample opportunities for walking, cycling, or driving.
