Lochawe Luxury Eco Cabins, Lochawe, Argyll

Loch Awe Luxury Eco Cabins offer a peaceful escape where guests can slow down, head out on adventures and soak up the beauty of this remarkable corner of Scotland. Visitors can picture themselves relaxing out on the deck or curled up beside their own crackling wood-burning stove, favourite drink in hand, reflecting on a day well spent exploring and planning tomorrow’s discoveries.

Accommodation

These thoughtfully designed eco cabins were created by architects to make the most of their outstanding surroundings. Perfect for couples, they combine high-end comfort with a light environmental footprint, using mainly solar power and the warmth of a wood-burning stove. Blending indulgence with responsible design, each cabin is positioned to showcase sweeping views of the loch and surrounding mountains.

Guests can take in the scenery from the comfort of the wood-burning stove indoors or step out onto their private deck to enjoy breakfast while mapping out the day ahead, then unwind in the evening with a favourite drink and a moment to truly switch off. With just two cabins on site, each one has been cleverly designed to offer stylish, fully self-contained living that feels both efficient and surprisingly spacious.

Each split-level interior is entered via a private deck, with steps leading down beneath a gently rising ceiling from the living area to the bedroom. Tall windows frame stunning views of Loch Awe and flood the space with natural daylight.

The interiors have a modern Scandi feel, with walls lined in natural wood and complemented by elegant furnishings. Innovative, sustainable materials have been used throughout to create a distinctive and beautiful finish.

Parking is located below the cabins, followed by a short walk up some steps to the front door. The wood-burning stove is ready for guests to light on arrival and quickly makes the cabin cosy whenever needed, with logs and kindling provided. A small gas boiler supplies hot water on demand. There is a two-ring gas burner for cooking and a small fridge to keep food and drinks cool. A breakfast bar is available for indoor dining, along with a table and chairs on the deck for outdoor meals.

Visiting the Area

Staying here places guests in an ideal location to discover the very best of this remarkable region. Adventurous visitors can tackle the climb up Ben Cruachan for a true Highland challenge, while those seeking a gentler pace can enjoy scenic forest walks close by. Guests can step into the past at Kilchurn Castle and St Conan’s Kirk, both within easy walking distance, spend time fishing or boating on Loch Awe, or venture further afield to explore the ancient sites of Kilmartin Glen. The striking, world-famous landscapes of Glencoe are also within easy reach for an unforgettable day out.

Beside The Loch, Onich, Fort William, Inverness-shire

Beside The Loch, Onich, Fort William, Inverness-shire

Beside the Loch is beautifully located on the shores of Loch Linnhe, offering self-catering cabins that seamlessly blend modern comfort with the timeless allure of the Scottish Highlands. Guests wake up to misty waters, breathtaking mountain views, and direct access to the secluded ‘secret’ beach of Cuilcheanna Bay, making it an ideal spot for both peaceful retreats and family adventures.

The cabins, named Rowan, Ash, and Birch, are strategically perched at the top of the gardens, designed to maximize the stunning loch and mountain views. Each cabin features an open-plan living space, centred around large picture windows that capture the dramatic scenery. Guests can relax on cosy sofas, enjoy meals around the dining table, or prepare food in the fully equipped kitchens, which come with NEFF ovens and microwaves, fridges, and dishwashers.

Accommodations in each cabin include a master bedroom with a double bed and ample wardrobe space, alongside a twin bedroom with two single beds. Fresh linens and towels are thoughtfully provided, with beds prepared in advance to welcome guests. Stepping outside onto the private balconies reveals expansive views of the vast sea loch and the rugged mountains, offering a perfect backdrop for relaxation or contemplation.

Swallow Cottage, a charming barn conversion, marries rustic character with contemporary amenities. The cottage’s light-filled, open-plan living area includes a cosy movie nook with comfortable seating and a TV. The kitchen is equipped with a NEFF oven and hob, fridge, dishwasher, and a dining table suitable for four guests. There are two double bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom—one with a bath and the other with a shower. Like the cabins, the cottage is surrounded by lush gardens and is just a short walk from Cuilcheanna Bay.

For those seeking a budget-friendly option, the nostalgic static caravans on site provide a unique Highland experience. Although these caravans offer a more rustic charm without modern heating, electric blankets and hot water bottles ensure a cosy night’s sleep. The caravans accommodate up to four people, featuring a double bed and two small singles. Facilities include a living area with picturesque views, a comfortable lounge with TV, and a well-equipped kitchen. Each caravan also boasts its own private garden space.

Onsite amenities at Beside the Loch include a personal training studio, wild swimming sessions, SUP hire, stargazing opportunities with a premium telescope, and outdoor dining areas equipped with BBQs and pizza ovens. Set across 1.35 acres, the property provides a safe and spacious environment for children to play and includes secure storage for kayaks, bikes, and other gear, as well as ample free parking.

Located conveniently between Glencoe and Fort William just off the A82, the site offers excellent access to local highlights and acts as a perfect base for exploring the best of the Highlands. Whether looking to unwind or explore, Beside the Loch caters to all those wishing to experience the splendid isolation and beauty of the Scottish landscapes.
