Duntrune Castle is in a beautiful part of Argyll, in the centre of a 5000-acre estate. This 12th-century castle and its estate are home to 5 beautiful holiday cottages. They offer the perfect place to stay for those who want a break away from the hustle and bustle of modern-day living. Whether you are seeking solitude and silence or a base for exploring a variety of activities, we are ideally located. Crinan & Kilmartin are within easy reach along with numerous attraction and places of interest.

About Duntrune Castle:
Situated at the narrows between deep water and a tidal loch, Duntrune was built to guard the glens of Kilmartin and Kilmichael from seafaring marauders. Always a stronghold in those days, it was never the scene of a major conflict, and is now accepted as the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland. The vaulted rooms on the ground floor date from the 12th Century, and the remainder of the keep from the 16th.

The estate and gardens are inland and have been the subject of great media interest with coverage from The Guardian, Observer, BBC, among others.

Guests can choose from one of four cottages on the estate, all of which have been tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. The cottages comprise of:

The Bothy – Full of traditional characteristics, it is a sensitive conversion of the original castle office. Sleeping two, it is perfect for couples and has a pretty courtyard area with wonderful castle & loch views.

Stag Cottage – A firm favourite with guests, due to its quirky and quaint interior. It has an open plan living space with large stove fire and was originally use for parties and shoot lunches. The cottage has a lovely private garden with patio area. Sleeps up to five people.

Castle Cottage – This picturesque cottage is bright and airy, providing a comfortable base for those who want to rest, relax and recuperate. A wonderful holiday home for family breaks away, as it is in a great location for exploring both coast and country. Sleeps up to five people.

Mother Brown’s Cottage – Sleeps up to 4 people, it is a cosy and homely place to stay for couples, friends and families. The original castle lodge is a very pretty cottage set just half a mile from the castle itself. Perfect for those who want share this magical place but retain a little privacy. Its windows were originally placed to spot approaching carriages coming up the castle drive, but today they serve to view the sun and wildlife of Loch Crinan from dawn until dusk.

Torsa Island Farmhouse, Torsa Island, Oban, Argyll, Bute & The Islands (Sleeps 1-6)


Torsa Island Farmhouse is the only property on Torsa Island. Perfect for child-friendly family holidays, giving you time to unwind and relax together, while exploring the bays, islands and hills around

Accommodation:
The ground floor consists of:

Large conservatory with wonderful views south overlooking Loch Melfort and the Isle of Shuna.

The kitchen and dining area are very well equipped with electric cooker, microwave oven, toaster, storage cupboards, sideboard, dining table and chairs, CD player and radio. There is also the farmhouse's original range in place, but this is for decoration only! The kitchen has windows facing east and south.

The sitting room has a three-seater sofa, four comfy chairs and a cosy window seat. Compressed woodchip logs and kindling is provided for the log burner with additional logs available for a small charge. There are books and games available.

Downstairs you will also find the shower room, with large enclosed power shower, toilet, washbasin and heated towel rail.

There is also a small utility area in the hallway with washing machine, tumble dryer and sink, as well as ample room for boots and coats.

The upstairs accommodation comprises:

A spacious double bedroom with a five-foot-wide pine bed, large pine wardrobe, dressing table and bedside tables.

The twin room has plenty of room for two pine single beds, a wardrobe and drawers.

The bunk room has full size bunk beds and a large chest of drawers.

Family bathroom with bath, overhead power shower, toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail.

All beds are made up for your arrival with towels provided for each guest.

The house is surrounded by a half-acre walled garden with three gates. This is bounded on the northeast corner by the barns, which house the Egator.

Transportation:
Transport is provided in the form of a rigid tubed dinghy called Cutty which is kept on a running mooring and access is via stepping over the side of her (approx. 1m height) onto the stone beach. There is no jetty, pontoon, pier, dock etc, which is why we recommend wellies! Once on land, you have the use of an Egator electric buggy to carry luggage and shopping to the house.

Location:
Located 16 miles south of the bustling harbour town of Oban on the west coast of Scotland, Torsa is within easy reach of shops, tourist attractions and only three hours drive from Glasgow. Your stay starts with a lesson in using the motorboat and electric buggy provided for your use, and help to settle you into your holiday accommodation.

Sited above the well known safe anchorage of Ardinamir Bay, it is also the perfect shore base for a sailing or motorboat holiday. The moorings can be used for guests own boats and there are ample local sites to launch canoes or kayaks from.

The Saddlers is a traditional two-storey property that provides self-catering accommodation within the heart of Bowmore. This is a small town on the island of Islay. It is best known for its whisky and Bowmore Distillery lies on the shore of Loch Indaal.

About The Saddlers:
The property can accommodate 11 people. There are 6 bedrooms which are all en suite. On the first floor, 2 of the bedrooms are superior en suites with views of the loch and private balconies.
