The adjoining dining area includes an additional sofa and smart TV, while glass sliding doors lead out to a back courtyard ideal for breakfast or summer meals with a glass of wine. Wickmere is a quiet hamlet made up of a small collection of cottages originally built to house workers on the Wolterton Estate, the family seat of the younger brother of former Prime Minister Robert Walpole. Using Swallow Cottages as a base, guests can walk or cycle safely along quiet lanes while enjoying easy access to the North Norfolk coast and nearby market towns.

Wickmere is close to Felbrigg Hall and within walking distance of Blickling Hall, both National Trust properties well worth visiting, offering extensive woodland and lakeside walks as well as historic houses. Other local attractions include the North Norfolk Steam Railway, the Shire Horse Centre, seal trips from Morston and the scenic waterways of the Norfolk Broads.
