Old Forge Cottage is a stunning, dog-friendly four-bedroom townhouse set in the picturesque market town of Ross-on-Wye, just a few minutes’ walk from the riverside, tea shops and local pubs.
Accommodation
The ground floor opens with an entrance area equipped with hooks for coats and dog leads, as well as a tray for muddy boots. A cosy snug offers a sofa, armchairs, a smart TV and DVD player, making it an ideal place to retreat with a book or for children to enjoy their own programmes while dinner is prepared. French doors lead from the snug onto the patio.
The open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen space is warm and welcoming—perfect for families or groups of friends. The lounge features wooden flooring, oak beams, two comfortable sofas, an armchair, a 55-inch smart TV and a gas log-effect fire that creates the perfect atmosphere for winter evenings or relaxing after a riverside walk.
The dining area centres around a large farmhouse table with handcrafted bench seating and chairs, with a highchair available for younger guests. Garden views can be enjoyed through the French doors.
The fully equipped kitchen features an electric double oven, induction hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle. A downstairs WC contains a hand basin and a cupboard housing a washing machine, airer and ironing board.
The four stylish and comfortable bedrooms are arranged over the first and second floors.
The first bedroom is spacious, with exposed beams, window seats and a king-sized bed; a travel cot is available on request.
The second bedroom overlooks the garden and includes a king-sized bed and an en-suite shower room with WC and wash basin.
The third bedroom is a bright twin room with two single beds.
The fourth bedroom, located on the second floor, is a light and generous attic conversion with ample headroom, a king-sized bed and a bespoke headboard.
A retractable stair gate is fitted at both the top and bottom of the stairs for added safety.
The main bathroom is traditional in style, featuring a freestanding ball-and-claw-foot bath that offers a perfect spot to unwind after a long walk, along with a shower-over-bath option. It also includes a high-level cistern toilet and hand basin. The en-suite bathroom features a shower and WC and cleverly incorporates an old washstand as a sink unit. A further WC is located on the ground floor.
The secure, walled courtyard garden is a suntrap with an original cobblestone square and handmade seating. A small lawn provides a safe area for children and dogs, while planted borders add colour and charm. The patio area includes a dining table with eight chairs, and a charcoal barbecue—with tools provided—offers the opportunity for al fresco meals.
One designated off-street parking space is provided 20 metres away. On-street parking for an additional car is available with the supplied permit, and further long-stay parking is located less than a minute’s walk away for a small daily fee.
