Newbridge Farm Cottages, Meifod, Powys (Sleeps 1-4)

Newbridge Farm is set in the heart of the Vyrnwy Valley and has the rivers Vyrnwy and Banwy flowing through its land. Newbridge Farm Cottages offer self-catering accommodation in Meifod, Powys. It is a working dairy, beef and sheep farm offering visitors comfortable self-catering accommodation in intriguingly designed, purpose-built cottages with timbered beams.

Pets are welcome and children will enjoy watching the daily milking from the viewing balcony just off the second-floor utility room. Next door is the visitor’s games room with a full-size pool table, darts board, keep-fit facilities and seating.

Vyrnwy Cottage - 2 twin bedded rooms + double sofa bed. Sleeps max of 6 people. Banwy Cottage - 1 twin bedded room + double sofa bed. Sleeps max of 4 people. 10 people can be accommodated in both holiday cottages booked together.

The timbered holiday cottages are comfortably furnished with their period fireplaces and light airy rooms. Each lounge is equipped with a TV.

The bedrooms are furnished with twin beds in each with a double sofa bed in each lounge for occasional visitors. Bathrooms have a shower and bath in which to relax in at the end of the day. Linen and towels are provided at no extra cost.

To the front, the holiday cottages share an enclosed garden in which to enjoy a BBQ or picnic and admire the panoramic views of the Vyrnwy Valley. To the rear of the cottages, there is ample parking space.

If you have young children in your group a cot and high chair can be provided. The utility room boasts an automatic washing machine, dryer and sink in which to prepare your fish for the dinner table! You may also want to store some of your fishing gear here. Newbridge Farm Cottages are open all year for your enjoyment.

Outside the holiday cottages - The rivers are swift-flowing until they meet at the confluence, just beyond the cottages. From here the Vyrnwy widens with some slow-flowing and willow-lined stretches where fish tuck in against eroding banks on the outside of bends. Cunning wild brown trout, graceful grayling, chub and salmon, in season, test the skills of anglers. So cast off your worries and come and have a go.

Walking along the riverside you may be lucky and catch sight of some of the wealth of wildlife, which lives along the banks. A kingfisher or two, maybe two or three swans gliding along or sunning themselves on the field. Even otters have been spotted occasionally. In the summer there are many migrating birds, such as swallows, which may awaken the light sleeper with their dawn chorus. It never feels like summer has arrived until you hear the curlew with its long plaintive call echoing down the valley. Newbridge is also on the edge of Kite Country; look out for these majestic birds soaring whilst you fish or wonder. In the winter you can catch the odd glimpse of a badger or a sly cunning fox as well as your winter birds such as the robin and the Canada geese flying high above.
