Although Lakewood enjoys its own rural idyll, it is perfectly positioned for exploring the attractions of Lancashire, Yorkshire and the Lake District throughout all seasons.

Each cottage combines character and comfort, featuring eco-friendly biomass central heating, exposed beams, natural timber finishes and impressive stone fireplaces with wood-burning stoves. Three of the cottages have private cobbled backyards, while The Stable benefits from its own patio with a private hot tub overlooking the surrounding countryside. Guests can also enjoy the shared lawned area by the lake, complete with garden furniture, perfect for relaxing, wildlife watching or enjoying a barbecue.

Lakewood offers ample parking, and heating, lighting, bed linen and towels are all included. Each cottage is equipped with a colour TV, video and DVD player with a selection of DVDs, CD player, electric hob and oven, microwave, washer/dryer, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Cross Farm Cottages are three beautiful self catering holiday cottages which have been lovingly converted from former farm buildings, situated in rural West Lancashire in Downholland, near Formby. Our holiday cottages provide the perfect rural retreat yet still within easy reach of many local attractions.

About Cross Farm Cottages

Each cottage is fully equipped and centrally heated with warm, solid wood floors and each is all on one level throughout. All beds, bookcases, shelves and clothes hangers have been handmade in wood by a local craftsman.

The bedrooms consist of luxurious king sized beds which can be converted into two single beds, large open plan kitchens with fridge, microwave and electric hob and comfortable sitting rooms with Satellite TV & DVD players. There is also a bed settee to provide an extra sleeping area if required. French windows lead from the sitting room to a private decked area and lawn with garden furniture.

A laundry is available for guests to use with a washer, dryer, ironing facilities and extra freezer space and wet boots can also be dried here.

There is a cot and highchair available on request and there is a large safe garden for football and other games. Bed linen, towels, electricity and heating are all included in the price as well as free Wi-Fi.

Our three cottages are sited in lovely countryside with views over fields yet within range of both Southport, Ormskirk and Liverpool - ideal accommodation for the Grand National, conferences, the Southport Flower Show, Liverpool One shopping and offering peace and quiet with a little luxury.

Visiting Downholland & Exploring Lancashire

Among many warm and welcoming local pubs we can recommend the excellent Scarisbrick Arms which is under a five minutes walk away. This newly refurbished pub is open all day and serves great, locally sourced food. There are farm shops nearby supplying free range eggs, organic produce and locally reared meat.

We would be happy to provide a hamper for you upon arrival, either of basic items or a more extensive range including meats, cheeses, fruit other locally sourced, organic items.
