On a small working farm, a traditional stone barn has been thoughtfully converted into four self-catering holiday cottages. Set within a picturesque lakeside and woodland setting, the cottages are ideal for families of varying sizes and are designed to offer guests maximum peace and relaxation.

Although Lakewood enjoys its own rural idyll, it is perfectly positioned for exploring the attractions of Lancashire, Yorkshire and the Lake District throughout all seasons.

Each cottage combines character and comfort, featuring eco-friendly biomass central heating, exposed beams, natural timber finishes and impressive stone fireplaces with wood-burning stoves. Three of the cottages have private cobbled backyards, while The Stable benefits from its own patio with a private hot tub overlooking the surrounding countryside. Guests can also enjoy the shared lawned area by the lake, complete with garden furniture, perfect for relaxing, wildlife watching or enjoying a barbecue.

Lakewood offers ample parking, and heating, lighting, bed linen and towels are all included. Each cottage is equipped with a colour TV, video and DVD player with a selection of DVDs, CD player, electric hob and oven, microwave, washer/dryer, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Cots and highchairs are available on request.

The Granary
The Granary is a one-bedroom cottage featuring a spacious upstairs living room and a private balcony overlooking the lake. Furnished in a contemporary country style, it offers either a super-king size bed or twin beds to suit guests’ requirements. The kitchen is fully fitted with modern appliances while retaining a traditional country feel. The bathroom includes a WC, washbasin and a multi-jet shower designed for relaxation.

Mill Cottage
Mill Cottage sleeps up to four guests. An entrance hallway leads to an open-plan lounge, dining area and kitchen. French doors open onto a small patio area with views of the lake. Upstairs, there is a double master bedroom with a king-size bed, en-suite shower room and lake views, along with a twin bedroom and a house bathroom featuring a large corner bath with shower over, WC and washbasin.

The Stone Barn
The Stone Barn accommodates up to six guests. It includes an entrance hallway with a downstairs WC and washbasin, leading into a spacious open-plan lounge, dining area and kitchen. French doors open onto a patio area with lake views. Upstairs, there is a double master bedroom with en-suite shower room, two twin bedrooms, and a family bathroom with a large corner bath, shower over, WC and washbasin.

The Stable
The Stable is situated opposite the lake and features a private patio with panoramic countryside views, complete with a hot tub for exclusive guest use. The open-plan lounge, dining area and kitchen open onto the patio through French doors. The spacious master bedroom includes a Juliet balcony with extensive countryside views and leads to a large bathroom with a corner bath and multi-jet power shower. A twin bedroom is located downstairs, complete with an en-suite shower room and walk-in wardrobe, as well as views over the patio and surrounding countryside.

Additional Information

Rates range from £390 to £835 per week depending on the season and cottage.
Maximum occupancy across all cottages is 16 guests.

Although Lakewood stands in its own rural idyll, it is perfectly placed for our guests to explore the attractions within Lancashire, Yorkshire and Lake District, throughout all seasons.

As well as possessing Eco friendly Bio-mass central heating, all the cottages at Lakewood boast exposed beams, natural timber and impressive stone fireplaces with wood burning stoves.

Three of the cottages each have private cobbled backyards. Whilst The Stable has its own patio with private hot tub overlooking the countryside to the rear of the cottage. Garden furniture is provided in the lawned area by the lake, where guests can sit and enjoy the surroundings and wildlife or have bbq's etc.

Lakewood has ample parking. Heating, lighting, bed linen and towels are all included in the cost along with colour TV, video, DVD PLayer and a selection of DVD's, CD player, electric hob and oven, microwave, washer/dryer, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Cots and highchairs are also provided on request.

This is a one bedroom cottage with a large upstairs living room and private balcony overlooking the lake. Furnished in a contemporary country style, this cottage offers accommodation with a super-king size bed or twin beds, depending on the guests’ requirements. The kitchen is fitted with all modern appliances, whilst remaining in the style of a traditional country kitchen. As well as wc and washbasin, the bathroom contains a ‘multi-jet’ shower, designed to wash away the stresses of previous weeks.

Mill Cottage

This cottage sleeps four. An entrance hallway leads through to an open plan lounge, dining room and kitchen. French doors with views of the lake open from the lounge onto a small patio area. The first floor consists of one double master bedroom, one twin room and house bathroom with a large corner bath (shower over), wc and washbasin. The master bedroom has a king size bed, en-suite shower room and lake views.

The Stone Barn

This cottage sleeps 6 people and has an entrance hallway, with a downstairs wc and washbasin. Just off the entrance hall is a large open plan lounge, dining room and kitchen, with French doors with views of the lake leading onto a patio area. The first floor has one double master bedroom, two twin bedrooms and a house bathroom. The master bedroom has a large double bed and en-suite shower room. The house bathroom has a large corner bath with shower over, wc and washbasin.

The Stable

This cottage is situated opposite the lake, with a private patio enjoying panoramic views of the Countryside. The Lounge, Dining Area and Kitchen are all open plan with French Doors opening out onto the private patio where you will find a private hot tub for use by The Stable guests. The spacious Master Bedroom has a Juliet Balcony with extensive views over open countryside. The Master Bedroom leads out onto a landing which provides access to the large Master Bathroom. The Master Bathroom contains a corner bath and multi-jet power shower. Downstairs is a twin bedroom which posesses an en-suite shower room and walk-in wardrobe. The twin room also has a large window with views over the patio to the counrtyside beyond.

The oak central staircase and the clever detailing of the shepherd's crooks which don this unique barn, give you the first taste of the standard and individuality which every room has to offer.

The three spacious en suite rooms are finished to the highest standards: master king-size / family en suite (ground floor), double, and twin (first floor) and all have unspoilt views out to the countryside and the Quernmore valley

Quernmore is less than 5 miles from the historic town of Lancaster with its castle, cathedral and once quayside port. It is just 30 minutes from the Lake District and with easy access from the M6 motorway, this gives endless opportunities for day trips.

Pony trekking and a municipal golf course are 2 miles away from the Shepherds Barn and the River Conder wends its way through the farm fields of Lee End. Fishing rights belong to the Longton’s - details are available on request.
