Brighouse Bay Holiday Cottages, Brighouse, Kirkcudbright, Dumfries & Galloway (Sleeps 1-6)


Brighouse Bay Cottages are three delightful self-catering cottages overlooking the unspoilt bay of Brighouse near Kircudbright. We are a great base for exploring a range of attractions in Dumfries & Galloway.

About Brighouse Bay Holiday Cottages:
Our cottages, called Cormorant (4-star), Oyster-Catcher and Sand Piper are three attractive, comfortable and fully equipped, with all the facilities required for a family holiday. All of our holiday homes are well equipped and are decorated and furnished to a high standard to ensure guests have an enjoyable stay. The accommodation includes:

Living room: Multi-fuel burning stove (kindling, logs and coal all included). Comfortably furnished with a sofa, two armchairs, TV, DVD, Video, Sky Freeview and a CD music system.
Kitchen; Washer/dryer; fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric cooker, microwave, dining table and 6 chairs. A high chair is available on request.
Bathroom: 3-piece white suite with a shower over the bath.
Upstairs - 3 bedrooms: Master bedroom with an en suite shower room, one further double bedroom and one twin-bedded room. Travel cot available on request.
Parking: To front and rear of cottages.
Pleasant enclosed garden with sea views, garden furniture and a BBQ.

Visiting Brighouse & Exploring Dumfries and Galloway:
The bay boasts magnificent views over the Irish Sea and is surrounded by 1200 acres of great walking country. Quiet rural roads make for safe cycling and there is a free-to-use slipway close by if you want to bring along your dinghy. At the head of the bay, there is a safe sandy beach. The cottages are in a peaceful rural setting 2 miles from Borgue, and a bit further from Kirkcudbright, and they have expansive views over Brighouse Bay, the rolling Galloway hills and over the Solway to the Isle of Man. There is just a total of six properties on Brighouse Bay.

Ross Bay Retreat, Borgue, Kirkcudbright, Dumfries & Galloway (Sleeps 1-5)


Ross Bay Retreat is a coastal escape, located at Borgue in Dumfries and Galloway. There are 4 self catering holiday homes available, all of which are well appointed and enjoy wonderful sea views, providing guests with a lovely retreat for those who are looking for a get away from it all break.

Please note that prices vary according to occupancy. The basic price is for 4 guests, low occupancy for couples deduct 5%, a single person deducts 7.5%, and for 5 persons add £20 to the basic price. 

Creel Cottage:
This stunning 4 Star Visit Scotland cottage sleeps up to 4 people. The property comes with a fully equipped kitchen with a range of excellent appliances: cutlery, glasses, bowls serving dishes, ample crockery along with a microwave, coffee maker, and modern black dishwasher, washing machine and a fridge/freezer. A fan assisted oven with electric hob, extractor fan and a DeLonghi matching kettle with four slice toaster is also included in the kitchen.

The relaxing and comfortable open plan lounge is L shaped and opens out to the kitchen/dining area. The lounge has lovely leather settees, flat screen TV, DVD player, books, magazines, books and toys. There is also an elegant oak dining table with 4 chairs, perfect for wining and dining after a busy day exploring the local area. The property boasts a Dowling ‘Firebug’ multi fuel stove and they provide kindling, wood or coal to keep you warm and cosy on chilly winter nights.

Guests can enjoy relaxing on the balcony or rear patio, ideal for a spot of al fresco dining!

Dairy House:
The wonderful 4 Star Visit Scotland cottage sleeps up to 5 people. The large property is ideal for a family holiday away. There is a Charles Renee Maclntosh kitchen which comes fully equipped with an array of superb appliances. The kitchen also benefits from having a wonderful pantry cupboard and wicker baskets for dry foods. You can enjoy dining on the oak dining table with chairs and through the archway is the lounge with comfortable leather settees, and flat screen TV with DVD player. The lounge also boasts a lovely window seat which offers breathtaking sea views. The property has a Dowling multi fuel burning stove and we provide kindling, wood or coal as well.

The Old Cheeseloft:
This 5 Star Visit Scotland holiday home is perfect for a spontaneous breakaway. The cottage has recently been thoughtfully renovated and offers the perfect holiday experience. The property sleeps up to 5 people and includes a delightful master en suite bedroom with king size bed, a twin bedroom with 2 single beds and a third bedroom which comes with a single bed. The excellent kitchen is contemporary, beautiful and comes with a magnificent range of appliances: cutlery, glasses, bowls serving dishes, ample crockery along with a microwave, coffee maker, and modern dishwasher, washing machine and a fridge/freezer. There’s also a wonderful oak dining table which enjoys stunning views across Ross Bay.

There are lovely window seats which offer glorious sea views and the ‘snug’ sitting room has a cosy leather settee and flat screen TV. The snug has a charming balcony, the smaller of 2 balconies at The Old Cheeseloft, which is ideal for relaxing and unwinding on after a busy day exploring the local area.

The cottage includes an idle tides room with French doors and a large balcony with outdoor seating, just one of many spots to relax in.

Guests can enjoy the secluded and pretty enclosed garden with patio area, BBQ and seating, great for some delicious al fresco dining.

Byre by the Sea
This spacious single storey property can accommodate 4 in a master king size en suite and a twin bedroom. Both have wonderful sea views.

The living space is open plan with large windows and a small balcony. It is finished to a very high standard and includes:

Multi fuel stove.
Dishwasher.
Coffee maker.
Washing machine.
Fridge/freezer.
Flatscreen TV/DVD player.
Hairdryer.
Wi-Fi.
Books.
Board games.

Outside is a south facing patio area which has a BBQ and seating area behind the glass balcony.

Mews Lane Cottage offers charming self catering accommodation in Kirkcudbright. Located in a peaceful location in Dumfries & Galloway, it is a great place to stay for all the family.

This beautifully furnished cottage sleeps up to 4 people, ideal for a special family holiday.

On the ground floor, there is a pleasant lounge with a comfy leather suite, TV and DVD player. A well-equipped kitchen comes with a range of appliances: fridge, freezer, washing machine, ceramic hob, double oven, microwave and dishwasher. The kitchen/diner boasts natural terracotta tiled flooring. There is a shower room with a shower cubicle, toilet and wash-hand basin.

The first floor has two comfortable bedrooms. The double bedrooms have a king size bed and the others have twin beds. All bed linen and towels are provided.

Kirkcudbright is a pretty fishing town with lots of galleries and shops. It boasts lovely beaches, cycle trails, woodlands, coastal courses and nearby golf courses. Lots of great attractions are in the local area, including Broughton House & Garden, MacLellan's Castle, Stewartry Museum, The Whitehouse Gallery & Barholm Castle.

Lower Nunton, Borgue, Kirkcudbright, Dumfries & Galloway (Sleeps 1-6)


Lower Nunton is a self catering cottage overlooking Kirkcudbright Bay and it is within walking distance of Dhoon Bay where there is a sheltered bathing beach.

Lower Nunton sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms; 1 double, 1 twin and shower room at one end of the cottage and 1 bunk bedroom with full-sized bunks and a bathroom at the other end. There is a spacious dining kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine, ample cupboards and is well equipped with crockery and pans.

The spacious lounge has a wood-burning stove and electric heater, comfortable seating for 6 people, flat-screen TV with Free View Sky box and DVD player. The views from all the main rooms of the cottage overlook the stunning Solway Estuary and St Mary's Isle. The enclosed garden is equipped with patio furniture and barbeque and has a large grassed lawn area. At the rear of the property, there is ample parking for several cars. The views from the garden are 360 degrees and stunning.

Borgue is less than 4 miles from Kirkcudbright, which was established as a Royal Burgh in 1455, Kirkcudbright has always been supported by a busy fishing trade. Behind the harbour the streets have housed generations of creative artists, a tradition maintained today by a flourishing colony of painters and craftworkers. This has led to it being called "The Artists' Town". Other well-known features of the town are the pastel-coloured houses and wide streets, and the wide selection of mainly family-owned shops, with free parking all over town.

Alternatively, you can visit Castle Doublas – Which is known as Scotland’s Food Town or Wigtown, which was officially designated as Scotland's National Book Town in 1998. It is now home to a wide range of book-related businesses. A book lovers haven – and with over a quarter of a million books to choose from, old and new. It is impossible to escape empty-handed.
