This small, family-run campsite is located just two miles from Trecastle and around 20 minutes west of Brecon, set within the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park, now recognised as one of the world’s Dark Sky Reserves. The charming old farmhouse sits within five acres of peaceful countryside, creating a picturesque and tranquil setting.

Shepherd’s Hut
The bespoke, dog-free shepherd’s hut, beautifully handcrafted in Wales, offers a cosy and private retreat for two adults, ideal for short breaks or longer stays. It features a separate, fully equipped enclosed kitchen with a gas hob, fridge, cooking essentials, seating area and a wood burner for added comfort. Guests can dine indoors or outside and enjoy a private enclosed garden with outdoor seating. Bedding, towels, electricity and initial supplies of wood and charcoal are all included for a relaxing stay.

Ynysfaen Cabin
The handmade one-bedroom cabin provides a cosy and well-equipped space, featuring a kitchenette with a hob, microwave and essential utensils, along with tea and coffee provided. The bedroom includes a comfortable double bed, while the living area has a sofa bed, allowing accommodation for up to four guests, making it ideal for families or friends. An electric radiator and log burner ensure comfort during cooler months. Outside, a private decking area with a fire pit and BBQ offers a perfect place to unwind. The cabin also includes a storage shed and a daily electricity allowance, with additional usage available if required. Pets are welcome by arrangement, with space for up to two medium-sized dogs.

Empty Bell Tent
The 5-metre empty bell tent offers a simple, back-to-basics camping experience for up to four guests. It does not include electricity or cooking facilities, but guests have access to on-site showers, toilets, a fridge and washing facilities, as well as picnic benches for outdoor dining. Please note that pets are not permitted in the bell tent, and there is no power, Wi-Fi or mobile phone reception on site.

The site also offers four campervan pitches and additional camping pitches for tents.

Visiting the Area
Cwmwysg, near Trecastle, is perfectly positioned for exploring the dramatic landscapes of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Visitors can enjoy scenic walks to Llyn y Fan Fach and Llyn y Fan Fawr beneath the Black Mountain peaks or take on Pen y Fan, the highest mountain in South Wales. The nearby market town of Brecon offers independent shops, cafés and access to the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, ideal for gentle walks and cycling. With waterfalls, open moorland and exceptional dark skies for stargazing, the area offers a perfect blend of adventure and tranquillity.

Hoppickers Rural Retreats, Leigh, Worcester, Worcestershire (Sleeps 1-13)

Hoppickers Rural Retreats have 4 unique properties. A 17th Century Barn, Log Cabin and luxury glamping Shepherds Hut and Bell Tent. They are in a rural location at the end of a no through road. This is in an ideal location for exploring Worcestershire and Herefordshire and the many attractions and places of interest it has on offer.

Hoppickers Barn:

Inside this luxurious holiday home, you will find exposed stonework and stripped beams.

The living space is open plan. Panoramic views can be enjoyed through the full-length windows. In the living area, there is soft seating, a 40” flat-screen TV, DVD player, iPod docking station & CD player. The dining area has a solid wooden table with seating for 8. The fully fitted kitchen includes all the facilities and utensils you may need during your stay.

It can sleep five people in a spacious master with a single bed and a double/twin room. For your comfort, quality cotton bed linen is provided with fluffy bath and hand towels. High chair, cot and stairgate are all available on request.

The family bathroom has a P shaped bath with an overhead shower, WC, hand basin and heated towel rail. Downstairs there is a separate WC and hand basin with a large radiator and coat hooks.

Outside is an enclosed terraced patio/garden where there is a BBQ and outdoor seating.

Hoppickers Hideaway Shepherds Hut:

Tucked away in the woods and with views of the Malvern Hills, the hut provides luxury glamping for 2 people in an en suite king size bedroom.

The fully fitted kitchen has a fridge/small freezer, oven and hob. Other luxury facilities available include underfloor heating, wood burner, TV, DVD player, high-speed Wi-Fi and Roberts radio.

Outside is a decking balcony with seating, fire pit and a hot tub. A private parking space is available.

Hoppickers Cabin:

This is nestled in a quiet corner of the old orchard and enjoys extensive lawns surrounding the property, providing plenty of room for children to run around. Our award-winning accommodation has an open plan living area with a Scandinavian log burner, 40” smart TV and high-speed Wi-Fi access. The dining area has seating for 6 and the fully fitted kitchen includes everything you need.

Outside is a paved seating area with Ratan style outdoor furniture and a gas BBQ. A separate decked verandah has an electric jacuzzi style hot tub. This provides a great place to dine al fresco and an enjoyable place to relax at the end of a busy day.

This is a luxury fully furnished bell tent that stands alone raised from the grass on wooden decking. Enjoy the space of your own enclosed area and a converted rice trailer kitchen and outside gas bbq. There is a fire pit, perfect for star gazing and a large picnic table to feast at, or simply watch the hours pass under the trees in a large hammock.

The short 2-minute walk through woodland takes you down to the inside shower room and toilet with a small kitchenette that connects to the shared games room.

The properties are a short walk from the village of Leigh which features a historic English Heritage Court Barn which has free entry. Worcester city is well worth a visit. It is best known for its cathedral, Worcestershire sauce and porcelain.

Our rural retreats are in an excellent location for visiting The Malverns. If you would prefer not to go anywhere there are many activities available from the doorstep. The surrounding area is a paradise for walking and cycling.

Fishing is available a short walk up the road at Brockamin Fisheries. Keen golfers have a choice of courses with Bransford being less than 2 miles away. It is approximately 2 hours from London or Manchester.
