Dee Valley Cottages, Glyndyfrdwy, Llangollen, Denbighshire (Sleeps 1-4)


A short stroll from the River Dee and the Llangollen Steam Railway, these two lovely self-catering cottages, Swallows and Wagtails, nestle in the beautiful Dee Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Wagtails - Sleeps 4
The old barn that became Wagtails cottage was built in the 17th century and retains many original features, including beautiful oak beams. The cottage is named after the birds which always nested in the barn. The charming and characterful accommodation is split over several levels & can accommodate up to four adults and a baby in two bedrooms, both of which can be set up with super king or twin beds. The lounge has an open fire with two comfortable leather settees, TV and DVD player. Downstairs there is a sizeable kitchen diner with a large French window providing access to a patio area. 

The large garden is shared with Swallows cottage and offers a further seating area with stunning views across the valley.

Swallows - Sleeps 4
Named after the birds which used to nest in the barns here, the views from Swallows are amazing. You can see right across the beautiful Dee Valley to the steam railway and over the river to the hills beyond. The cottage can accommodate up to four adults and a baby or two in two bedrooms, one is upstairs with a super king size/twin beds, the second is a twin bedroom on the ground floor, which can also be set up with a super king. The bathroom is on the ground floor & has been designed as a wet room, making it suitable for wheelchair access. The comfortable lounge and kitchen diner has an open fire, two leather settees, TV and DVD player.

There is a decked sitting-out area with table and chairs provided in the summer months. A barbeque is also provided. The large garden is shared with Wagtails cottage and offers a further seating area.

North Wales provides the perfect setting for a host of outdoor activities. Walking, climbing, fishing, horse riding, mountain biking and many water sports are just some of the activities available within a short distance.

Visit the picturesque local town of Llangollen with its many shops and amenities.

Take a ride on the steam railway, enjoy a horse drawn canal boat trip and visit Plas Newydd, home of the famous ‘Ladies of Llangollen’. The Pontycysllte Aqueduct, a world heritage site and the National Trust properties of Erddig and Chirk Castle are nearby. Explore the beautiful Berwyns or venture further afield into the stunning Snowdonia landscape with its many attractions. The shopping and cultural centres of Chester, Oswestry and Shrewsbury are also within easy distance.
