The fully converted Victorian Station Waiting Rooms retain many original features, including the platform and canopy. Guests can relax and soak up the sunshine in the garden, once part of the Old Great Eastern Railway grounds, with views of the refurbished Mark I First Class British Rail Carriage. Inside, the Waiting Rooms feature a lounge/bedroom with a Victorian-style wrought iron double bed and classic furniture. Modern amenities include a Freeview TV, DVD player, and a fully equipped kitchen with an oak dining table, electric hob, oven, refrigerator, microwave, and toaster. The accommodation also includes a shower room with a heated towel rail and a separate WC, offering a perfect blend of charm and convenience.

The Railway Carriage offers a 4-star self-catering experience with a railway theme, ideal for guests seeking something unique. The lounge area includes carriage-style seating, LCD TV, Freeview, and DVD facilities, while the fully fitted kitchen provides a dining area with views towards the original platform and canopy of the Waiting Rooms. The carriage features two modern en suite bedrooms, accommodating up to four people, and an additional reading room for a quiet and relaxing space. Outside, there is a small lawned area and off-road parking for cars, making it a practical and comfortable choice for a family or group.

The Old Station is just a few minutes’ walk from the beach, offering guests the chance to enjoy Norfolk’s spectacular sunsets. Right next door is The West Norfolk Hotel, whose restaurant occupies the original Railway Goods Shed, adding a touch of history to your dining experience.

The Old Station, Allerston, Pickering, North Yorkshire (Sleeps 1-6)


The Old Station are three unique self catering railway carriages in the village of Allerston. Allerston is near the historic market town of Pickering in North Yorkshire. Our cosy carriages are located on the edge of The North York Moors where there are superb opportunities for walking and cycling.

Accommodation
The three railway carriages were built in 1968 and now offer exceptionally well equipped accommodation.

All three of the holiday carriages have:

Central heating.
Oven.
Hob.
Microwave.
Fridge.
TV.
DVD player.
Radio.
Bath with shower attachment.
WC.
Wash basin.

The carriages stand in train formation but are not inter-connected.

Carriage one and two both offer three bedrooms. Carriage one has one double bedroom, one twin room with two singles and one twin room with a single and a head height bunk. Carriage two has one double bedroom, two twin rooms, each with a single and a head height bunk. Carriage three has two double bedrooms each with an additional head height bunk.

They are in two acres of grounds providing plenty of space for children to play. Each of the carriages has its own picnic table, BBQ and a selection of toys, games and bikes.

Visiting Allerston & Exploring North Yorkshire
There are many things to do in the local area. Ryedale provides excellent cycling country for all ages and abilities. From ''on the flat'' in the Vale of Pickering to mountain biking in Dalby Forest, which has some of the best mountain biking trails in the country. In the local area guests can also enjoy fishing, walking and golf.

The attractive market town of Pickering, home of the North York Moors Railway, is located close by offering a range of shops, pubs and restaurants.

The North York Moors can be easily reached and offer numerous things to do including forest and woodland walks as well as breathtaking views. There are many towns, villages and stately homes located close by that guests can explore.
