Rivers Edge Cottage, Shotley Bridge, Consett, Durham


Rivers Edge Cottage offers charming self-catering accommodation on the banks of the River Derwent in Shotley Bridge. Located near Consett in County Durham, the cottage enjoys a peaceful rural setting on the historic site of a former paper mill. Surrounded by scenic countryside and tranquil riverside views, it provides an ideal retreat for a relaxing and memorable getaway.

Accommodation
The barn conversion is full of character and showcases a range of unique features. Sleeping up to four guests, the cottage is well-equipped for a comfortable stay.

The spacious living room provides a welcoming place to relax after a day exploring, complete with a feature fireplace and a Smart TV offering Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube. The well-equipped kitchen includes a variety of appliances to cater for all self-catering needs.

There are two bedrooms, consisting of one king room and one twin room. Both share a distinctive circular bathroom, which includes a bath with a shower attachment. Bed linen and towels are provided.

Outside, guests can enjoy a pretty garden, perfect for relaxing with a morning coffee while taking in the peaceful surroundings. A BBQ is also available for outdoor dining. Glamping pods are planned for the future, with further details available on enquiry.

Visiting the Area
Situated next to the River Derwent, the cottage offers access to fishing, with permits available. The surrounding area features a range of traffic-free routes ideal for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Nearby Consett offers attractions such as Blackhill and Consett Park, while Gibside provides a magnificent Georgian house with beautiful gardens and scenic walking routes.

Further attractions in the area include Beamish Open-Air Museum, Tanfield Railway, Hall Hill Farm, Diggerland and Derwent Reservoir.

Additional Information
The cottage accommodates a maximum of four guests, and children are welcome. Disabled facilities may be available by arrangement and guests are encouraged to enquire for further details. Wi-Fi is intermittent due to the rural location, and off-street parking is provided. Pets are not permitted.

Rivers Edge Cottage offers charming self catering accommodation on the banks of the River Derwent in Shotley Bridge. Our cottage near Consett in County Durham is in a scenic rural setting on the site of the old paper mill, ideal for a magical holiday.

Accommodation
Our wonderful barn conversion is brimming with character and offers many unique features. The cottage sleeps up to 4 people and offers everything you need for a memorable staycation.

The spacious living room is a lovely place to unwind with a glass of wine after a day in the countryside. Facilities include a Sky TV, a DVD player, radio and a feature fireplace. The well-equipped kitchen comes with a range of appliances.

We have two beautiful bedrooms: a king and twin room. Both rooms share a lovely circular bathroom with a shower attachment on the bath taps. All bed linen and towels are included.

Outside there is a pretty garden, perfect for a morning coffee whilst savouring your surroundings. We now provide a BBQ.

Visiting Shotley Bridge & Exploring County Durham
We are next to the gorgeous River Derwent and fishing permits are available. The area has a range of traffic free routes for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. In nearby Consett you can stroll around Blackhill and Consett Park or visit Gibside, a magnificent Georgian house with beautiful gardens and nature walks. Further attractions to visit include:
