Millclose Cottage, Holymoorside, Chesterfield, Derbyshire (Sleeps 1-4)


Millclose Cottage is a great place to relax and unwind and a great base for exploring Derbyshire and the Peak District. Situated on the east side of the Peak District National Park, Millclose Cottage offers easy access into the Peak District, with Bakewell, Castleton, Hope Valley and the surrounding area are all within easy reach, whether you are just wanting a gentle walk or a more strenuous hike. Millclose Cottage is surrounded by a network of footpaths, from the cottage you can easily walk to Old Brampton, Ashover, Chatsworth Estate and Chesterfield.

Holymoorside is a ten-minute walk from the cottage. Bar meals are available at the Bulls Head, one of two friendly local inns. A network of marked footpaths runs past the cottage door, including the Holymoorside History Trail and the Chesterfield Round Walk.

The old 'Crooked Spire' town of Chesterfield is four miles away. Enjoy a trip to nearby Bakewell and its famous Monday market. The Meadowhall Shopping Centre is about half an hour by car.

There is easy access to the tourist attractions of the Peak District National Park including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Cromford Mill and the Castleton Caves. Matlock Bath, the Heights of Abraham, Hardwick Hall, Bolsover Castle and Sherwood Forest are all worth a visit.

Cowclose Barn, Overgreen, Chesterfield, Derbyshire (Sleeps 1-5)


Cowclose Barn is situated on the eastern edge of the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire. This is a peaceful but not remote location. It is very near The Gate Inn which offers local beers and excellent food served by friendly staff.

The 2 comfortable and spacious stone cottages have original features, such as oak beams and stone buttresses which give the cottages their character. There is a large garden with a patio and play area for young children.

This is excellent walking country with something for everyone. There are many stately homes and gardens including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall, Bolsover Castle, and Renishaw Hall and Garden that are all well worth a visit. Don’t forget to visit some of our beautiful small villages and see the Well Dressings. Popular places nearby include Bakewell, Eyam, Matlock, Buxton, Chesterfield, and Derby. Sheffield offers a range of galleries, shops, theatres, and restaurants and is a great day out.

The entrance to the Pottery Flat is just off Chatsworth Road on Hipper Street, Brampton, Chesterfield. The whole apartment is bright and is fully equipped as a home. It is centrally heated by a gas combi boiler in most areas, and there are portable oil filled radiators for extra comfort. There are artworks on the walls of most rooms, by local artists and members of Peak District Artisans, as well as solid wood furnishings and attractive, rich textiles.

The entrance porch has a washing machine and Belfast sink, tiled floor and stools for sitting on to change footwear and a boot scraper as well as hooks for outdoor clothes and a drying rack.

A short flight of stairs takes you to a small landing. The shower room has a large spacious shower with a large shower head and a wand shower so that children can be bathed as well as adults. It has a heated towel rail and washbasin unit with mirror and shaving point. The separate toilet also has a heated towel rail, washbasin unit and mirror. The washrooms are attractively tiled throughout.

From the first landing, you also access the spacious single room. It is comfortably furnished with a chest of drawers, a double wardrobe and an oak framed single bed, and a desk and lamp.

Up three steps and the further four rooms come off the landing. To your right is the fully fitted and equipped kitchen with fridge freezer, microwave oven, ceramic hob with grill and a large oven. There is a plentiful supply of equipment for cooking. Tea and coffee and sugar are supplied. Meals can be taken at the kitchen table.

The sitting/dining room has a comfortable settee and two reclining chairs as well as the dining table and chairs with space for five or six people to dine comfortably. There is a flat-screen television, DVD player, CD player and radio. Wi-Fi is available for free. The books and games on the shelves are for the use of the guests.

The spacious twin bedded room has ample storage/wardrobe space, two single beds, two chairs and chests of drawers, a chandelier and bedside lamps.

The double bedroom has a handsome double bed, ample wardrobe space, a desk, chairs and bedside lamps.
