Overdale, Burtersett, Hawes, North Yorkshire, Yorkshire Dales


Overdale is located in Burtersett, a picturesque and peaceful village in the beautiful countryside of Upper Wensleydale near Hawes. Situated at the end of a small farm track, the cottage provides an ideal base for walking, cycling and watching birds and wildlife, with many walks available straight from the front door. The area is perfect for those seeking an active holiday, as well as for visitors who simply want to relax in a traditional Dales cottage surrounded by idyllic scenery. The views from Overdale are spectacular.

Accommodation

The cottage sleeps up to six guests in three bedrooms, two with double beds and one with full-size bunk beds.

Overdale benefits from central heating and also features a multi-fuel stove for added comfort. The kitchen is fully equipped with a cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and a wide range of crockery and cleaning materials. A freezer and washing machine are located in the adjoining boot room.

The cottage includes Wi-Fi and a Smart TV, and has been furnished with a mixture of family pieces and new furniture to create a comfortable, welcoming home-from-home for visitors.

The bedrooms are provided with duvets and pillows, but to help keep prices low, guests are asked to bring their own duvet covers, sheets, pillowcases and towels. These can be provided on request at the time of booking for an additional charge of £25. Tea towels and kitchen towels are supplied.

The cottage is regularly used by the owners, who are keen walkers. Guests can make use of a comprehensive collection of local maps, walking guides and a fiction library. Overdale also includes a selection of games and toys for visitors to enjoy.

Electricity, heating and coal for the stove are included in the price. The boot room offers excellent storage space and also serves as a useful drying room for wet dogs. There is secure off-road parking within the cottage grounds.

Overdale also features a large attached barn, accessed through a door from the kitchen. The upper floor is a games room, equipped with table tennis, table football, a cross trainer, exercise bike and other games. The ground floor is used for storage, and when the barn’s double doors are open they reveal magnificent views across the dale.

Outside, the enclosed garden at the front of the cottage includes a sunny patio area and parking space for two cars. The garage houses the coal bunker and provides storage space for bicycles. At the back of the cottage there is a grassed area with a bench, perfect for enjoying the views across Wensleydale.

Location

Overdale is ideally located for exploring Upper Wensleydale and the surrounding Yorkshire Dales. The countryside around the cottage offers beautiful scenery and excellent walking routes directly from the front door.

The nearby market town of Hawes, just under one mile away, offers a variety of pubs, cafés, independent shops, a post office, bike hire and visitor attractions, along with two grocery shops. Hawes also hosts livestock and general markets every Tuesday. Overdale is also a convenient base for longer trips to the Lake District and the North York Moors.
