Tyn Y Fron Country House & Cottage, Betws-y-Coed, Conwy, Snowdonia National Park

Tyn Y Fron is a charming and immaculately maintained country house and cottage set within approximately one acre of beautifully landscaped gardens on the edge of Betws-y-Coed, one of the main villages within Snowdonia National Park. Elevated above the village, the property enjoys breathtaking views across the Conwy Valley and surrounding countryside.

Originally built in 1867, the detached stone house and accompanying cottage, both with traditional slate roofs, have been carefully restored to a high standard while retaining their classic country house character. The main house offers six bedrooms accommodating up to twelve guests, while the separate two-bedroom cottage sleeps four, making it ideal for larger groups or extended families.

Set in a peaceful and sunny position, the property provides a calm and relaxing retreat, yet remains conveniently close to the village centre, which can be reached via a scenic footpath crossing a historic suspension bridge over the Afon Conwy.

The Country House

The Country House is a beautifully presented Victorian property designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. It features six individually styled bedrooms, five of which have en-suite facilities.

The house accommodates up to twelve guests across four super-king rooms, one king room and one double room, with the flexibility to convert one of the rooms into a twin. A well-equipped kitchen and a spacious lounge with stunning sunset views across the valley make it an ideal setting for families and groups of friends seeking a peaceful countryside escape.

The Cottage

Located beside the main house, the cottage offers a tranquil retreat with plenty of character. Originally built in the mid-1860s as a coach house with stables below and an artist’s studio above, it retains many of its historic features.

Fully refurbished, the cottage now provides a comfortable and welcoming base for both active adventures and relaxing stays. The ground floor includes two bedrooms—a double and a twin—sleeping up to four guests, with space for an infant in a cot if required.

Upstairs, there is a spacious lounge, a bathroom with an electric shower over the bath, and a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and washer/dryer.

Visiting the Area

A seven-minute walk along a public footpath, crossing the suspension bridge, leads into the heart of Betws-y-Coed, where guests will find a variety of independent shops, cafés and restaurants. The cottage also benefits from a private car park with two spaces available.

Often referred to as the gateway to Snowdonia National Park, Betws-y-Coed is surrounded by some of North Wales’ most spectacular scenery. Just outside the village, Swallow Falls is one of the area’s most famous natural attractions, while the enchanting Fairy Glen offers a quieter setting with dramatic rock formations and the winding River Conwy.

For those seeking adventure, Zip World Fforest provides thrilling zip lines, treetop experiences and forest activities. Scenic walks can be enjoyed along the Afon Llugwy and through Gwydir Forest, while the wider Snowdonia region offers endless opportunities for hiking, cycling and exploration.
