South Wing is a beautiful Grade II listed house in the village of Hunmanby, North Yorkshire. Nestling on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds and only two miles from the sea South Wing is the perfect base for a self catering family holiday or a short break with a group of friends.

About South Wing

Our wonderful property sleeps up to 14 people and is perfect for a memorable break in a stunning setting. The house is well-equipped and comes with a range of facilities to suit all your needs.

There is a Baby Grand piano at the eastern end of this beautiful room enabling you to enjoy the wonderful views across the village to the sea as you rattle off your favourite tunes!

The TV lounge provides the opportunity for some extended family viewing with a 65’’ TV, comfortable sofas and chairs. The main lounge has a toasty wood burner for the winter months. There is a small but distinguished library of DVD's and you can even record your own programmes on the DVD recorder. There are also plenty of games for children young and old.

The oak panelled dining room is the perfect setting for a grand meal with family and friends. The dining table is actually made from benches recovered from the science laboratory when the house was converted back from a school. South Wing is fully loaded with all the crockery and glassware that you need to make the most of this wonderful room.

Rustle up a storm in the fully-equipped kitchen that comes with a range of excellent appliances: twin Neff ovens, induction hob, two dishwashers, two large fridge/freezers plus drinks fridge.

Upstairs are 5 huge bedrooms all with comfortable beds dressed in high quality Egyptian cotton linen and topped off with luxuriously warm duvets. The views from the bedrooms are truly glorious. To the south you look across the gardens to the adjacent tree lined golf course and tennis courts. To the east is the village taking in the church spire and beyond to the sea at Hunmanby Gap.

The master bedroom suite offers a real sense of grandeur with chandeliers, a dressing room, en-suite bathroom and a south facing snug with private balcony overlooking the grounds. There are 3 bathrooms and an additional toilet upstairs and each guest is provided with thick absorbent cotton towels.

Outside are the wonderful gardens with 1.6 acres of lawn, woodlands and shrub covered terraces. Garden furniture and a BBQ ensure you can make the most of good weather. There are four tennis courts and a 9-hole golf course (available on a pay-and-play basis) within 100 yards of the back door. Hot tubs are also available to hire.

Visiting Hunmanby & Exploring North Yorkshire

Hunmanby is a large well serviced village 2 miles from the sea and perched on the Yorkshire Wolds. South Wing is a short walk from several pubs, an excellent fish & chip shop and a small range of shops. The area also has an abundance of glorious walking and cycling routes to enjoy. Superb attractions to visit include:

Filey Beach.

Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park.

RSPB Bempton Cliffs.

Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery.

Filey Dams Nature Reserve.

Clara's Cottage offers outstanding accommodation in the quaint village of West Lutton. We are set in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds and close to Malton and the historic cities of York and Beverley.

Our quirky cottage dates back to 1801 and has been lovingly renovated to now offer everything you need for an unforgettable holiday in a wonderful part of the country. The cottage sleeps up to 5 people and a cot is also available.

You can relax in the sitting room after a day in the Yorkshire countryside. The large country-style kitchen includes an electric oven, range gas hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso coffee machine, sandwich maker, slow cooker and hand blender.

Three lovely bedrooms are available: a king, double and single. All the rooms share a bathroom with a whirlpool jacuzzi bath with an overhead shower.

You relax in the enclosed garden which comes with an outdoor table and chairs for al fresco dining. The south-facing summerhouse is a lovely spot to unwind in with a good cup of coffee and a BBQ is also available.

West Lutton is in the middle of the majestic Great Wold Valley. The village has a historic church and a dog-friendly pub which serves fantastic beer and delicious home-cooked food. One minute from the door is a gorgeous footpath that takes you to Thirkleby Wold.

Bricknell Cottages offers award-winning self-catering accommodation in Fangfoss near York. Our 5 cottages are at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds and perfect for a luxurious break away.

Our cottages are on Pear Tree Farm. You will be staying in buildings tastefully converted from the old milking parlour, hay barn, stable, granary, milk dairy and calf rearing houses.

All the cottages are furnished to the highest possible standard. We have had great enjoyment in designing as we built with many little rustic turns along the way. All the bedrooms have en suite facilities and some come with double showers and large double-ended baths. We have used reclaimed timber throughout to provide lots of interesting characteristics. We are sure that you will be overwhelmed by the attention to detail in these outstanding renovations.

Guests also have access to the games room. It comes complete with 7 pool/snooker table, air hockey, football table and full-size table tennis table.

Within easy reach of our farm is the beautiful, historic city of York. You can visit the National Railway Museum, The York Eye, The Jorvik Centre, York Minster and walk on the famous city walls. We are also very handy for York races.
