Garden Cottage, Bridgnorth, Shropshire (Sleeps 1-6)


Garden Cottage is a listed, double-fronted, small town house on one of Bridgnorth’s loveliest streets in Shropshire.

The holiday cottage offers exceptional accommodation, rated 5 star by Shropshire Tourism, to those who wish to get away from it all without leaving behind the comforts of modern living and the convenience of nearby shops and the other facilities of the town.


Accommodation
The spacious living room is a through room with French windows leading to the patio and garden and is furnished with a Clearview wood-burning stove and equipped with TV, DVD/Blu-ray player and ipod/MP3 docking station.

The dining room, with a doorway into the garden, leads to a modern well-equipped kitchen area (with fridge/freezer, electric cooker, extractor fan, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher). Opening off the hall are a wet room and a small study/library with computer and Wi-Fi. Ample storage space for luggage, etc, is available in the basement where a tumble dryer is also provided.

Up the staircase (twelve treads, fairly steep, but furnished with a hand-rail) are three charming bedrooms. The first, overlooking the garden, is a twin-bedded room with en suite facilities.

The second is a double, looking east across to the attractive seventeenth-century Castle Governor’s House. The third also faces east and can be set up as a double or twin room. Both these front rooms are served by the newly equipped Victorian bathroom just across the landing.

The sunny west-facing garden, enclosed by brick walls, is well planted with mature shrubs, climbers and ground-cover, including a fine Amelanchier Canadensis, with white blossom in spring and golden leaves in autumn. A view of St Mary’s church tower can be had from the lawn. The large patio provides ample space for outdoor meals in fine weather.

Local Area
Bridgnorth is a friendly and charming market town, evoking the atmosphere and way of life of earlier times, set on the borders of rolling South Shropshire countryside. The town is divided between High Town built on a sandstone bluff some 200 feet above the valley of the River Severn and Low Town on the banks of the river.

Garden Cottage is conveniently located in a quiet cul-de-sac in the historic High Town close to many shops and amenities. A delightful park and the evocative ruins of Bridgnorth Castle are moments away.

Severn Valley Railway - This steam railway operates all year round and travels down the river valley to Kidderminster with stations enabling you to visit the villages, country parks, and attractive walks en route.

Dudmaston Hall – 3 miles Enchanting parkland and gardens and Hall, mainly seventeenth-century but with important modern and contemporary art.

Ironbridge Gorge and Museums – 8 miles World Heritage Site with ten museums spread along the valley beside the river Severn which tell the story of the birthplace of the industrial revolution.

Attingham Park – 18 miles A year-round place to visit with family activities and trails, seasonal events, deer park and open air theatre.
