Kingfisher Lodge accommodates up to four guests and is beautifully positioned on the western banks of the River Severn. The lodge offers stunning valley views and is just a five-minute walk from Highley Railway Station and museum.

Inside, there are two bedrooms (one double and one twin), a shower room, and an open-plan kitchen and living area overlooking the river. The enclosed garden is ideal for guests travelling with dogs and includes a shed for bait and bike storage.

Hazeldene Lodge

Hazeldene Lodge sleeps two guests and is perfect for a romantic break. Set high on the bank, it offers breathtaking views across the river and valley, with passing steam trains adding to the charm.

The lodge features a light-filled living room with a TV and DVD player, a well-equipped kitchen with modern appliances, a twin bedroom, and a spacious shower room. Outside, there is a decking and patio area for al fresco dining, along with secure gates for dogs and a lockable shed for storage.

Holly Tree Lodge

Garden Cottage, Bridgnorth, Shropshire (Sleeps 1-6)


Garden Cottage is a listed, double-fronted, small town house on one of Bridgnorth’s loveliest streets in Shropshire.

The holiday cottage offers exceptional accommodation, rated 5 star by Shropshire Tourism, to those who wish to get away from it all without leaving behind the comforts of modern living and the convenience of nearby shops and the other facilities of the town.


Accommodation
The spacious living room is a through room with French windows leading to the patio and garden and is furnished with a Clearview wood-burning stove and equipped with TV, DVD/Blu-ray player and ipod/MP3 docking station.

The dining room, with a doorway into the garden, leads to a modern well-equipped kitchen area (with fridge/freezer, electric cooker, extractor fan, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher). Opening off the hall are a wet room and a small study/library with computer and Wi-Fi. Ample storage space for luggage, etc, is available in the basement where a tumble dryer is also provided.

Up the staircase (twelve treads, fairly steep, but furnished with a hand-rail) are three charming bedrooms. The first, overlooking the garden, is a twin-bedded room with en suite facilities.

The second is a double, looking east across to the attractive seventeenth-century Castle Governor’s House. The third also faces east and can be set up as a double or twin room. Both these front rooms are served by the newly equipped Victorian bathroom just across the landing.

The sunny west-facing garden, enclosed by brick walls, is well planted with mature shrubs, climbers and ground-cover, including a fine Amelanchier Canadensis, with white blossom in spring and golden leaves in autumn. A view of St Mary’s church tower can be had from the lawn. The large patio provides ample space for outdoor meals in fine weather.

Local Area
Bridgnorth is a friendly and charming market town, evoking the atmosphere and way of life of earlier times, set on the borders of rolling South Shropshire countryside. The town is divided between High Town built on a sandstone bluff some 200 feet above the valley of the River Severn and Low Town on the banks of the river.

Garden Cottage is conveniently located in a quiet cul-de-sac in the historic High Town close to many shops and amenities. A delightful park and the evocative ruins of Bridgnorth Castle are moments away.

Also close to the holiday cottage is:

Severn Valley Railway - This steam railway operates all year round and travels down the river valley to Kidderminster with stations enabling you to visit the villages, country parks, and attractive walks en route.

Dudmaston Hall – 3 miles Enchanting parkland and gardens and Hall, mainly seventeenth-century but with important modern and contemporary art.

Ironbridge Gorge and Museums – 8 miles World Heritage Site with ten museums spread along the valley beside the river Severn which tell the story of the birthplace of the industrial revolution.

Attingham Park – 18 miles A year-round place to visit with family activities and trails, seasonal events, deer park and open air theatre.

River Steam Holidays offers fabulous self catering accommodation in Highley, nestled in a gorgeous part of The Severn Valley. Our cottages near Bridgnorth ARE in a unique position, sitting just below the steam railway and station. We are perfect for an unforgettable holiday in Shropshire.

Ship Cottage
Our spacious property offers luxurious accommodation and sleeps up to 8 people. We are in a truly magical location and you can enjoy the trains rolling passed in all their steam and whistle glory. Lovely features include oak breams and a log burner to keep you toasty.

The cottage comes with 4 bedrooms: one double en suite and one twin en suite. The two other rooms are on the top floor and share a wet room. Additionally, the top floor double room has an adjoining room with a sofa bed to sleep 2 further children or extra adults. All the bedrooms include a TV.

A well-equipped kitchen includes a large family-sized standing fridge, separate freezer, washing machine and cooker with an electric oven and gas hob. There is also a flat-screen TV. You can unwind in the cosy snug which has a TV and DVD player.

Outside there is a delightful patio to unwind on in the evening sun. You can also relax on the elevated decking area and savour views of the trains and the Severn Valley. A porch over the back door has plenty of canopy for logs and to cover muddied outdoor gear. We also have a lockable shed for fishing gear and bikes.

Kingfisher Lodge
Our luxurious lodge sleeps up to 4 people and is in a stunning position atop the western banks of the River Severn. You can admire glorious views of the Severn Valley and we are just a 5-minute walk from the beautiful Highley Railway Station and museum, with the passing Severn Valley Railway steam engines a regular sight from the decking area. Inside the lodge, there are 2 bedrooms (a double and twin), a shower room and an open-plan kitchen and living area overlooking the river. A lovely, enclosed garden is suitable for your four-legged friend and comes complete with a shed for bait and bike storage.

Hazeldene Lodge
This charming lodge sleeps up to 2 people and is great for a romantic getaway. The lodge is nestled high on the bank Hazeldene and boasts breathtaking views over the river and valley. Railway fans will love seeing the trains passing by. Outside there is a relaxing decking/patio area for al fresco dining. We also have gates to ensure your dogs are secure. The living room enjoy lots of natural light and includes a TV and DVD player. A well-equipped kitchen has a matching toaster and kettle, washing machine, fridge freezer and an electric oven and hob. There is a twin room and large shower room. The shed is lockable for bikes, fishing tackle and bait storage.

Holly Tree Lodge
This fabulous lodge sleeps 4 and offers outstanding views over the valley and its river. The train track behind gives a magical view of the trains passing by. The front doors open onto the valley. A well-equipped kitchen/diner has an electric hob and cooker along with a washing machine, fridge freezer, oven and hob. Facilities include a flat-screen TV and DVD player. There is a double and two twin rooms sharing a shower room. A table and chairs on the lawn offer a lovely spot for catching the sun. A shed is available for bait storage and bike storage.

The Jolly Roger
This fantastic property sleeps up to 6 people and offers a homely feel. The spacious cottage is the ultimate country retreat. Upstairs there is a double and twin room which share a shower room. Downstairs there is a second twin and a third bedroom. The wet room is also downstairs. A well-equipped kitchen comes with a washing machine, oven and hob. A relaxing living/dining has a large flat-screen TV, DVD player and an electric fire. Outside there is a back door with an enclosed garden. A lovely spot for al fresco dining.

The Old Trout
Our outstanding cottage boasts splendid views down the river and across the valley from the patio. Inside there is charming features, including old oak beams and a log burner. A well-equipped kitchen has a large fridge, electric oven and hob. There is a separate utility room with a freezer. Next to the utility room is a wet room. The lounge comes with a large flat-screen TV and there is also a TV in the double and twin room. Outside there are gates for keeping your dogs secure and we have a bait fridge.

Visiting Highley & Shropshire
The local area has lots of fishing opportunities for barbel, roach and chubb. You can fish outside the property or fish for half a mile upstream. The coarse fishing in the Severn Trent area runs from mid-June to mid-march and any bait is allowed. Fishing for salmon, trout and eel is allowed all year round. Brilliant attractions to visit include:
