Accommodation

The ground floor of Weare Cottage is bright, airy, and thoughtfully designed for comfort and ease. The fully equipped kitchen-diner includes everything needed for a self-catering stay, featuring a large fridge-freezer, gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, wine cooler, filter coffee machine, and underfloor heating for added warmth.

Adjoining the kitchen, the family room offers a cosy space to unwind, complete with a Smart TV, DVD player, books, puzzles, and games. French doors open onto a sunny decked terrace, creating a perfect spot for indoor-outdoor living. The main sitting room provides a welcoming atmosphere for relaxed evenings, with its wood burner, comfortable sofas, and large Smart TV.

A south-facing conservatory offers a tranquil place to enjoy morning coffee or a good book, while a dedicated study with a spacious desk and high-speed Wi-Fi makes working remotely both easy and enjoyable. Additional conveniences on the ground floor include a cloakroom with laundry facilities and ample hallway storage for coats, boots, and beach gear.

Upstairs, there are three generously sized and beautifully furnished bedrooms designed for a restful night’s sleep. The master bedroom features a king-size bed, plenty of storage, and a modern en-suite shower room. The twin bedroom includes two full-sized single beds, while the super-king room can be converted into a twin upon request. The stylish family bathroom is fitted with a deep bath and overhead shower, large basin, WC, and heated towel rail.

High-quality cotton bed linen and towels are provided, along with thoughtful touches such as tea towels, cleaning supplies, kitchen essentials, and a complimentary starter basket of logs for the wood burner (available from October to April).

Weare Cottage boasts a large, private south-facing terrace furnished with comfortable seating, sun loungers, a parasol, and a gas BBQ—perfect for al fresco dining after a day exploring North Devon’s coast and countryside. The secure, gated garden features a well-kept lawn and flowerbeds, offering a safe space for children to play, as well as ample storage for bicycles and surfboards. Driveway parking is available for up to three cars, ensuring easy access for guests.

Exploring the Area

Set amid rolling fields and woodlands, Weare Cottage provides a peaceful base just 10–15 minutes from North Devon’s award-winning Blue Flag beaches, secluded coves, and dramatic coastal scenery. Perfectly positioned for both relaxation and exploration, the property offers a tranquil escape while remaining close to local attractions.

Just a two-minute walk away, guests can enjoy a warm welcome and delicious food at the village pub, The Cyder Presse. A short stroll leads to a local park complete with a playground, playing field, and community orchard. The nearby Tarka Trail offers scenic walking and cycling routes to the beach, dotted with charming cafés and pubs along the way.

In nearby Great Torrington, just five minutes away, visitors will find a variety of local shops, including a butcher, baker, greengrocer, chemist, Co-Op, Lidl, and M&S Simply Food. Beaford Country House, Beaford, Great Torrington, Devon

Beaford Country House offers excellent self catering accommodation, set in 30 acres of gardens and grounds located in Beaford near Great Torrington in Devon. There are stunning views towards Dartmoor and is perfect for a magical wedding.

Previously a gentleman’s residence, the house is now an ideal base for family gatherings, parties or stag & hen weekends.

There is a large drawing room that has an open fire and lots of seating. There is also a smaller library/snug room that ideal for children as it has a Wii, DVDs and lots of games. The dining room has beautiful views over the lawns, verandah and the swimming pool that can all be accessed through the patio doors. There is a large table that seats up to 24 people as well as a fireplace, pool table and seating area. The kitchen is spacious and offers the following:

Four oven AGA.

6 burner electric range.

Microwave.

Cooking utensils.

Crockery & cutlery.

From the kitchen you enter a scullery that has a dishwasher and a sink and the the back of the kitchen is a second kitchen where you will find a n American style fridge, freezer, sink and more storage cupboards. There is a washroom that has a washing machine. The self catering accommodation offers nine beautiful bedrooms eight of which are en suite and one has a private bathroom. There are also two family bathrooms. There are four double rooms, two family rooms, two king size rooms, one single room and one twin room.

All of the rooms have Freeview TV and all bedding and towels are provided. The self catering accommodation is surrounded by countryside and set it gardens. There is a children's outdoor play area, a BBQ and plenty of furniture.

There is a fenced outdoor heated swimming pool and a private hot tub. We also have a massive BBQ hut to enjoy and even an outdoor bar. You can treat yourself to one of the in house spa treatments and children will love a donkey ride in the gorgeous countryside.

There are many places to eat in the local area so you will be spoilt for choice when deciding where to go for dinner. The surrounding countryside offers wonderful walks and cycling routes. You can see all the beautiful views whilst going on a lovely walk.

Stowford Lodge Cottages are set in about 6 acres of private pasture land comprising of an orchard, with a safe and wonderfully spacious children's play area and a one acre field ideal for kite flying and football. There is also a small wooded walk amongst numerous young trees running alongside a pony paddock and a hen and duck enclosure.

Great Torrington town square and the newly refurbished Pannier Market, as featured in the drama series "Down to Earth" on BBC One, is only 3 miles away. Home to Dartington Crystal and RHS Gardens Rosemoor, and the newly opened 1646 Civil War Centre.

Tarka Country is on our doorstep, Weare Giffard being the birthplace of Tarka the Otter and offering access to the Tarka Cycle Trail; bikes are available to hire locally.

We are centrally placed for visiting Devon and Cornwall, all of which has plenty to offer the visitor for 'places to visit' and 'things to do'.

Westward Ho!, Instow, Clovelly, Bucks Mills offering safe beaches are no more than a short car journey away. Ideal base for sea trips to Lundy Island from Bideford or Ilfracombe. Dartmoor and Exmoor are also within easy reach.
