Appin Holiday Homes, Appin, Oban, Argyll


Appin Holiday Homes provide distinctive self-catering accommodation in the village of Appin, surrounded by impressive mountain scenery and overlooking the loch. Located in Argyll between Oban and Glencoe, with Fort William just a short drive further north, the setting offers an excellent base for exploring the Highlands while enjoying comfort and convenience.

Lodges

Each lodge features two comfortable bedrooms, including one double and one twin, making them a great choice for couples, families or small groups travelling together. Inside, guests can enjoy a light and welcoming living area, a well-equipped kitchen for preparing meals and modern bathroom facilities, providing everything needed for a relaxing and convenient stay after a day exploring the surrounding walks, lochs and coastline.

Badger, Squirrel, Fox and Otter are the upper-level lodges, all offering superb views of the surrounding scenery. Each lodge includes a spacious modern shower room with a WC and basin, as well as an extended decked area with steps, an outdoor table and chairs, and a small outdoor sofa, ideal for relaxing and taking in the views.

Beech, Rowan, Oak, Ash, Birch and Cherry are located on the lower level and feature bathrooms with a bath and overhead shower. Each lodge also includes a small electric fire with a surround, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere to unwind in after a day exploring the area.

Railway Carriage

This beautifully restored former GWR train carriage combines historic charm with modern comfort. Thoughtfully converted with subtle nods to its railway heritage, it features a cosy living area with a wood-burning stove, smart TV and stylish décor beneath the original curved pitch pine roof. The carriage includes a handmade king-size bed with luxurious bedding, a fully fitted kitchen with modern appliances and a spacious shower room with double basins, robes and soft towels.

Outside, a private and secluded seating area with a covered space, large gas fire pit and outdoor roll-top bath provides the perfect place to relax after a day exploring the countryside.

Porter's Rest

Porter’s Rest is a cosy shepherd’s hut set within its own secluded woodland area. Designed as a romantic retreat for two and also suitable for solo travellers, the hut features a comfortable double bed, soft bedding and a small wood-burning stove to keep things warm. Inside there is a compact kitchen with a two-ring hob, sink, fridge, kettle and toaster, along with essentials such as tea, coffee, sugar and milk, plus a small sofa and retro record player.

Outside, a private garden area includes a wooden deck with seating, an outdoor bath with hot and cold water and a fire pit for cooking or relaxing under the stars. A shower and toilet are located in a nearby facilities block just a short walk away.

Bothies

Kilkerran Bothy and Loch Fyne Bothy offer peaceful retreats designed for relaxation in the heart of nature. Sleeping two guests, these charming bothies combine modern comfort with rustic character, making them ideal for couples looking to unwind. Inside, there is a beautifully furnished space with stylish décor, a cosy living area and a well-equipped kitchenette, providing everything needed for a comfortable stay. Guests can also enjoy the tranquil surroundings from the private deck, perfect for morning coffee or watching the sunset.

Visiting the Area

Appin is ideally located for exploring some of the most scenic areas of the West Highlands. Visitors can discover the historic Castle Stalker, one of Scotland’s most photographed castles, set on a small island in Loch Laich. A short drive away, the lively harbour town of Oban offers shops, restaurants and boat trips to the Hebridean islands. The dramatic landscapes of Glencoe are also within easy reach, providing spectacular scenery and excellent walking opportunities.

For those who enjoy wildlife and nature, the peaceful shores of Loch Creran and the surrounding countryside offer plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoors.

Appin Holiday Homes, Appin, Oban, Argyll (Sleeps 1-4)


Appin Holiday Homes offer unique self-catering holiday accommodation in Appin, boasting loch views and surrounded by glorious mountains. We are midway between Oban and Glencoe in Argyll, with Fort William a few miles further north, making this the ideal touring base for comfort and convenience in the Highlands.

Lodges
Our 10 timber lodges are built to a high standard, being warm and welcoming all year. They blend perfectly with the beauty of their surroundings and are the perfect base for shoreline walks. They are all south-facing and enjoy stunning views over Loch Creran from the veranda and balcony areas.

All the lodges are beautifully furnished and come with two bedrooms: a double and a twin. You can unwind in the lovely open-plan living area which comes with a large picture window that takes advantage of the view. A well-equipped kitchen includes a fridge, electric oven, microwave and a full range of crockery, glasses, utensils and pans. You can enjoy a home-cooked meal around the dining table and there is also a bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Caravans
We have 8 superb static caravans, with each enjoying magical views over Loch Creran. The views from the caravan window are constantly changing through the seasons, ensuring no two days are the same. All the caravans come with lovely lounge/dining areas, comfy bedrooms, a modern bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. You can also relax on the decking area outside with a glass of wine whilst savouring the views.

The Carriage at Creagan
NEW for 2023 this former GWR train carriage has been restored to provide luxury accommodation for 2 in a handmade king-size bed. No expense has been spared to give you a five-star experience; from the shower room with handmade washstand and double basins, Karndean floors and Hive controlled central heating system and Bedding Envy Egyptian cotton sheets. It comes well equipped with a Dolce Gusto coffee machine, toaster, kettle, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, smart TV and wood burner. Outside is a secluded area with a fire pit, seating and an undercover roll-top bath.

Visiting Appin & Exploring Argyll
There is lots to do and see around the Appin area, with pony trekking, sealife centre, licensed Inns, cafe & Castle Stalker nearby. Fishing is free, (salt and freshwater). The busy town of Oban with supermarkets, a Leisure Centre, golf, cinema, and island ferries just 20 minutes or so away by car. Great attractions to visit include:

McCaig's Tower.
Dunollie Museum, Castle and Grounds.
Dunstaffnage Castle and Chapel.
Oban Distillery.
Kerrera.
Oban War & Peace Museum.
