In advance of your stay, you can also plan some memorable days out from the See & Do pages there. And check out some of the wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor.

Orlege End - Sleep 3 + 2 or up to 6 using one sofa bed:
5 STAR Visit Scotland. Orlege is wow! A 30-minute drive from central Edinburgh via a scenic drive fringed by the Pentland Hills brings you to this luxury award-winning conversion. Lots more space than in most city flats and the bonus of a livestock farm to roam, its features include an amazingly well-equipped spacious kitchen with granite worktops. Open plan relaxing living and dining area. Underfloor heating with the option of a multi-fuel stove. Family bedroom upstairs with 3 singles or a super king and single. Double bed downstairs. 2 en suite bathrooms with baths and power showers. Bright, white, light and airy. Attractive features include a mezzanine gallery area, staircase with tension wire balustrade, and a star-shaped bedroom upstairs. The original beams in the kitchen and new wonderful limestone flagstones marry well with the contemporary feel of this conversion. Outside is a small patio area exclusive to Orlege. Ideal for couples or small family groups. Lots of interior images to entice on the Crosswoodhill website.

Steading Cottage - Sleeps 6:
4 STAR Visit Scotland. This 3 bedroomed cottage is the one for those happy to be at the heart of the farm. Ideal for those with mobility problems and a need for ground floor bedrooms, its spacious upstairs bedroom is also hugely popular with small children and teenagers.

Appearing small from the outside Steading Cottage opens up like a tardis inside. Guests remark on what a successful conversion this is. It is white, light, spacious and inviting. Two storeys with 3 bedrooms and 2 + bathrooms. Entry is through a roomy porch/utility room. Large enough for all your fishing or golf gear, bicycles, or car-roof rack, it’s just as ideal as a temporary home for your dog for just a few hours as it can be shut off from the rest of the house. To the left is an open plan lofty living/dining area with a granite-topped island unit dividing this area from the fully integrated, red alder kitchen. A focal point at the far end of the living area is the multi-fuel stove for those who love the ambience of a real fire in addition to the oil-fired central heating. On the ground floor, the double bedroom has a king-size bed and en suite shower & WC. Beside this is a small single bedroom. Both have space for a cot. Opposite is a wheel-in shower-room. This bathroom with power shower, bath, W.C, basin and rail grabs and the non-slip floor is ideal for a wheelchair-bound guest. Wide stairs lead up to a small gallery, above the kitchen and overlooking the living area. Beyond, behind the door, is a spacious dormer/attic with two single beds and one double. A child's paradise with plenty of floor space to play on. And you can pop into an adjacent room with toilet and hand basin to spare nocturnal trips downstairs! Lots of interior images to entice on the Crosswoodhill website.

The Wing - Sleeps up to 6 (4+2):
3 Star Visit Scotland. The Wing of Crosswoodhill is the more traditional property on the farm. With many original features such as the 18th Century solid pine doors, shutters and windows, the choice of furniture is a lot more homely and traditional. Guests who choose the Wing remark on its character and lovely atmosphere. Outside it has a good, long stretch of lawn with a newly added play area in the woods at the back of the house. Guests enter from their own garden at the rear of the farmhouse into their own two-storey home in the middle of the farmhouse. Downstairs is a well-equipped kitchen. Although galley-style it really does have all the appliances and gadgets you need and works well for guests. Adjacent is a cosy living room for 4/dining room for 6: the multi-fuel stove here burns coal and logs. Full oil-fired central heating throughout the house. The TVs and DVD players both upstairs and downstairs are ideal for guests with different viewing tastes. Guests also find having two living areas a real bonus. Ever encountered teenagers keen to get away from their parents and have their own space? Or vice-versa? The Wing is ideal for this. A short flight of stairs leads up to a passageway with views out over the lawn and trees. Upstairs are a double bedroom and a bedroom with adult-size bunk beds. The bathroom has a power shower over the bath. At the far end of the upstairs corridor is a spacious second living room and/or the third bedroom with a sofa bed and double bed, heaped with floral cushions for daytime relaxation. Facing windows invite both morning and evening sunshine. As all 3 bedrooms and sole bathroom are upstairs this is not a good choice for those with mobility problems. Please do explore lots of interior images on the Crosswoodhill website with its link below.

Craigengar Lodge - Sleeps 12 + 2 + 4 on sofa beds:
5 Star Visit Scotland. The focus with this newbuild house is on contemporary style, immediately apparent as you leave the shelter belt of trees behind and view for the first time the imposing grandeur of this timber-clad house with its curved aluminium roof set in a field all to itself, encircled by grazing sheep. Venture inside and you find not just a visually appealing spacious, open-plan layout but the kind of high spec. extras you would expect from a boutique hotel: individually designed bedrooms and bathrooms, wonderfully atmospheric mood lighting, a Sonos sound system, iPod docking station, eye-catching pottery and artworks, and so much more. This house shouts modernity but intrigue, too, with many special touches. Curved ceilings, some with an engaging sense of volume, soar upwards marrying in with crescent-shaped windows at the gable ends. Huge picture windows maximise the inside-outside feel with hardwood decking running along the southern side of the house. All the Scandinavian windows and doors are double and triple glazed as this house lives and breathes eco-friendly principles. The underfloor heating on both floors is powered by a ground source heat pump. With 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, this house is perfect for family reunions, groups, corporate lets, and last-minute smaller party numbers. Its location only 25 minutes from Edinburgh Airport is a real bonus.
