Buidhe Island (pronounced “Buie”) is a family-run B&B and self-catering retreat located in the heart of Argyll. Set on the edge of the breathtaking Loch Melfort, it offers a relaxed waterside escape, ideal for exploring Argyll by both land and sea. The retreat offers two self-catering properties, The Pier House, which sleeps up to ten guests, and Kelpie Chalet, which accommodates four. Both properties enjoy stunning sea views, making them an ideal base for a peaceful and scenic getaway.
The Pier House
The Pier House comfortably accommodates up to nine guests across four bedrooms. These include two family rooms, each with a king-size bed and a single child’s bed and en-suite bathrooms, a king bedroom with its own en-suite and a twin room with a bathroom located next door. The property features an outdoor seating area with a firepit, a wood-burning stove and a range of practical amenities, including Wi-Fi, a large washing machine and tumble dryer, two fridge freezers and a commercial dishwasher. A cot and highchair are available for families. Accessibility is well considered, with a ground-floor bedroom featuring a sofa bed, as well as disabled parking and toilet facilities.
Kelpie Chalet
Kelpie Chalet is a cosy two-bedroom property sleeping up to four guests. It features one bedroom with a king-size bed and a second bedroom with bunk beds. The chalet offers a well-equipped outdoor seating area with a firepit and includes essential amenities such as a washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge freezer and Wi-Fi. A cot and highchair are also available, making it a convenient and comfortable choice for families.
Visiting the Area
Craobh Haven offers a wide range of activities and attractions. Wildlife enthusiasts can enjoy birdwatching and regular sightings of seals and otters in the bay, while adventurous guests may opt for wild swimming in the clear coastal waters. Paddleboards and sit-on-top kayaks are available for hire, and guests with their own boats can launch and sail directly from the site, with charges applying. The surrounding area also features an extensive network of walking trails, from gentle coastal paths to more challenging hikes, all showcasing the stunning landscapes and natural beauty of Argyll.
