Dairy Cottage at Cowgrove Farm, Ropley, Alresford, Hampshire (Sleeps 1-5)

Dairy Cottage is located on the periphery of Ropley village, just a short walk from the community-run village shop, church and cricket field. Close by is Alresford, a rural market town offering independent shops and a variety of eateries where you can amble along the River Arle. There are countless footpaths accessible from Dairy Cottage to suit ramblers of all abilities. For those wanting to look further afield, the South Downs National Park almost brushes our doorstep.

Dairy Cottage sleeps 5 people. It was converted into a holiday cottage in 1992 when we stopped milking cows. There are 3 bedrooms; the main room has a double and a single bed, with an en suite bathroom. There are 2 further single bedrooms (1 is very small and has a 2’6” bed). Downstairs there is a spacious lounge and dining area, along with a well equipped fitted kitchen and toilet/shower room with power shower.

Outside is a large courtyard/patio area with garden furniture. There is also another area which is communal, with grass and a picnic styled table for guests and owners to use.

Ropley is situated between the cathedral city of Winchester and the market towns of Alton and Petersfield. Nearby is the pretty town of Alresford where the River Arle flows into a lake. It provides fishing as well as a reservoir for the River Itchen navigation. Here one can take a pleasant stroll along the river past the old Fulling Mill.

Within a 10 minute drive from Ropley is Jane Austen's house in Chawton. The Watercress Line Steam Railway connects the towns of Alton and Alresford and stops at Ropley on the way through the picturesque countryside.
