Dartmoor Holidays is a smallholding offering three spacious, reasonably priced, and welcoming self-catering cottages. Located within the ancient market town of Tavistock in the west of Devon, these holiday cottages sit in a beautiful rural setting on the edge of Dartmoor National Park—an ideal spot for walking and exploring the great outdoors.

The Barn

The Barn is a charming conversion featuring a large first-floor room where the kitchen, dining area, and living area are all combined in one open space with wide-ranging views of the surrounding countryside. On the ground floor there are three bedrooms: one double, one twin, and one with full-size top-quality bunk beds. The ground floor also includes a bathroom with basin, toilet, and bath with shower, plus a second lavatory and washroom with tumble dryer and washing machine. The ground floor is carpeted throughout, with original oak beams left exposed for character.

The Hemphouse

The Hemphouse sleeps five people in a double room, twin room, and an en suite downstairs single. The open-plan living areas are well equipped, including a TV, DVD player, cooker, fridge, wood-burning stove, washing machine, and tumble dryer.

The Shippen

The Shippen is the smallest of the barns, sleeping four people in a double and a sleeping area within the living room. The open-plan living area is well equipped, similar to The Hemphouse.

Visiting Tavistock & Exploring Devon

These holiday cottages offer ideal accommodation for walking, hiking, cycling, or riding holidays. Dogs are welcome, and stabling is available for guests who wish to bring their own horses. Open moorland is within a 10-minute walk, while the historic market town of Tavistock is just three miles away. The nearby village of Peter Tavy boasts a 15th-century inn serving good food, and National Cycle Route 27 passes directly by the gate.

Broom Farm Cottage, Rosudgeon, Marazion, Penzance, Cornwall (Sleeps 1-2)

Broom Farm Cottage offers excellent self-catering accommodation in Rosudgeon. The cottage is near Marazion and Penzance, making this the perfect base to explore the local area. The Cornish cottage sleeps up to two people and is ideal for a romantic holiday away.

Broom Farm Cottage has been converted from a traditional single-story granite barn. Situated on a 3-acre smallholding, this is perfect for an idyllic breakaway.

The lounge/dining/kitchen area includes comfy seating and a TV. A fully equipped kitchen area includes a range of excellent appliances: microwave and fridge etc.

The bedroom boasts a king-size and has an en suite bathroom with bath and shower over. Crisp white cotton bed linen is included.

Adjoining the cottage is a covered car space that leads to a patio with garden furniture, overlooking one of our meadows. An ideal place for a spot of al fresco dining.

The cottage is open from Easter to the end of November.

At the end of the lane is a Co-op store, a village pub and a fish and chip shop. Buses to Falmouth or to Penzance stop opposite the pub. A mile away is Prussia Cove, famous for its beautiful coastal walks leading to the nearby sandy beaches of Mounts Bay. St Ives is 9 miles away and Penzance is only 5 miles away. There you can stroll down Chapel Street, running from the town centre to the harbour, and explore its quirky mixture of shops, most of which date back to the 18th Century.

The Exchange Gallery in Penzance offers a major contemporary art gallery/space. The Gallery features a range of work from local to international artists. The building itself was altered to include a large bowed glass wall illuminated by 100s of coloured LED lights.

Penlee House Gallery and Museum is a Victorian manor house that houses an art gallery, the town museum and a cafe. The gallery specialises in the Newlyn School artists. The museum upstairs shows displays of local history interest ranging from the Stone Age onwards

The cottages are situated on a16 acre smallholding surrounded by trees, pasture and peace. It’s a chemical free area and has been awarded for providing a green environment. The three self-contained stone holiday cottages are spacious, comfortable and attractively furnished with a mix of antique and modern furniture. They are equipped to a very high standard.

To help you relax and enjoy your holiday there are animals to see, books to read, games to play, a radio, digital television and an abundance of tourist literature.

Bullfinch Cottage provides spacious accommodation for four people. The ground floor is accessible to wheelchair users and has a large cloakroom with a toilet and washbasin.

Redstart Cottage is spacious with exposed beams and ample space for two adults plus one or two children.

Cuckoo's Nest provides comfortable easy-access accommodation for three visitors who may have limited mobility.

The area provides endless possibilities for touring; to the west is Mid-Wales, the beautiful Elan Valley and the Brecon Beacons; to the north, Shropshire and the county town of Shrewsbury; to the east and south lie Malvern and the Malvern Hills. There are National Trust properties, market towns and three cathedral cities, (Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester) all within easy reach.

Werngochlyn Farmhouse dates back to the 12th Century. It is a small working farm set in the middle of rolling farmland under the Skirrid Mountain and yet only three miles from the busy market town of Abergavenny.

There are 4 self-catering holiday cottages set around the farmyard. All are tastefully converted and yet retain the charm and character of the original buildings, with stone walls and revealed beams. They are spacious and yet cosy enough for a Winter Break or to return to on a rainy Summer evening!

The newly equipped kitchen/diner offers you all cooking facilities, including a cooker, microwave, fridge and freezer. 

The holiday cottage has two bedrooms, both with comfortable double beds, wardrobes, side tables and lamps. The bathroom has a separate bath and shower cubicle with gas heated powerful shower and a toilet. The wash basin is set in a vanity unit with mirror and shaver socket. 

We are close to the small village of Lanlivery, with its charming pub and historic church and the picturesque ancient stannary town of Lostwithiel. The Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock House are all within easy reach. The ancient charm of Fowey harbour, the quaint fishing villages of Mevagissey, Looe and Polperro and the historic port of Charlestown are nearby. The city of Truro with its majestic cathedral and architecture is only half an hour’s drive. 

Our holiday cottage is situated by the lake and the copse, offering visitors an uninterrupted view through the windows and from the decking accessed through the French windows from the lounge.
