**The Vestry:** A three-floor accommodation with the capacity to sleep up to 8 people in 3 twin/double rooms and a sofa bed. Here, you'll find a warm and inviting living room featuring a log burner and an open-plan kitchen leading to a sunlit terrace.

**Stonehouse:** The larger self-catering house with the ability to accommodate 12 people in 5 twin/double rooms. The living spaces are open and welcoming, offering captivating sea views.

**The Great Hall:** This grand space serves as an exceptional venue for gatherings, featuring a dining table that seats up to 24 guests. Additional trestles are available for larger events, accommodating up to 60 people, making it ideal for buffet-style receptions for up to 150 guests. Note that The Great Hall is typically accessible when booking the houses.

Anchor Cottage offers charming self catering accommodation in Portland. We are in a fantastic position, only a mile from Portland Bill and just half a mile from Blacknor on the Island’s west coast and Church Ope Cove on the east. Dorset is a gorgeous part of the country, with a vast array of castles, gardens, museums, beaches and countryside to see.

Our wonderful cottage sleeps up to 5 people and is beautifully furnished throughout. The property is a real home from home and boasts gorgeous features, such as wooden deck beams and a gas stove set in the old stone fireplace.

Upstairs there are 3 wonderful bedrooms: a master double with sea views, a twin and a single room which overlooks the rear garden. 

The front garden is the ultimate sun trap and comes with a delightful pew, great for relaxing whilst admiring stunning views to the south.

Fishermans Cottage, Portland, Dorset

Fishermans Cottage is a charming detached 18th century cottage on the edge of Southwell in Portland, Dorset. The holiday cottage has excellent sea views.

On the ground floor there is a lounge/diner with sea view, a reception room, a fully equipped kitchen, a cloakroom, laundry facilities and a garden room.

Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms - The twin bedroom, with a window looking east over the sea with views as far as Purbeck. The double bedroom has an uninterrupted sea view south over Freshwater Bay and out into the English Channel. The master bedroom, once again with uninterrupted sea views to the south. It also has an en suite shower room. All bedrooms have ample storage, dressing area, mirrors and radio alarm clocks. There are two bathrooms in the holiday cottage, the main bathroom and the en suite shower room, both are finished to a high standard. Bed linen is provided free of charge. Cots and high chairs are available at a small charge (please request when booking).

Outside is a pleasant side and rear walled garden with patio areas, lawn and planting. There is also a hot tub seating up to 6 people. 

Most visitors only know Portland for its famous stone or the lighthouse but there's a lot more to discover, from walks along the cliffs to exploring its varied history. Be sure to put it on your list of places to visit whilst on holiday. The Isle of Portland is not really an island, though it is only joined to the mainland by a narrow strip of land and the Chesil Beach. 

The mass of land that juts out into the channel is formed from a block of limestone 4 1/2 miles long by 3/4 of a mile wide and rises from near sea level in the south to over 400 ft high in the north.

Wells and Thomas Hardy, these Portland Bill cottages have been comfortably furnished throughout to offer visitors a home-from-home holiday experience. 

Together, they can accommodate up to eight people in comfort, where you have shared use of the seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool and Jacuzzi. There are superb opportunities for walking and bird watching as well as climbing and diving, or why not just simply relax in the lighthouse and take in the sensational sea views or unwind beside the swimming pool? 

A short stroll takes you to The Bill itself, craggy rocks jutting out into the sea dominated by the current Trinity House lighthouse. The Bill’s friendly cafe and local pub provide good food and refreshments should you wish to take time out whilst exploring the dramatic coast.
