Eviedale Cottages consist of two properties: The Lodge and The Cottage. Both are beautifully furnished in a cosy country style, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The kitchens in both cottages are well-equipped with all the necessities such as cooking utensils, crockery, glasses, refrigerators, toasters, microwave ovens, and electric cookers. After a day of exploration, guests can unwind in the comfortable living areas, each featuring a smart TV, DVD player, and a wood-burning stove.

The Lodge, the larger of the two, features a master bedroom with a super king-size bed, a second bedroom with two single beds, and a sofa bed in the living room. The Cottage offers a master bedroom with a king-size bed and a second room with a single bed. Both cottages provide bed linen and fresh towels to ensure a comfortable stay.

Outside, guests can enjoy a delightful, enclosed garden with outdoor seating and BBQ facilities, perfect for alfresco dining in the sunshine.

Guests at Eviedale Cottages have the unique opportunity to enjoy freshly baked artisan sourdough, bread, and pastries, as well as takeaway wood-fired sourdough pizzas from our on-site bakehouse and bistro. These delicious offerings are perfect for complementing your self-catering experience.

Evie is a gateway to the numerous attractions of Orkney. The spectacular Iron Age Broch of Gurness and the beautiful Sands of Evie beach, often dotted with seals, are highlights not to be missed. For wildlife enthusiasts, the RSPB Birsay Moors Reserve and Bird Hide provide fascinating excursions. Adventurous guests might explore the St Magnus Way or catch the Tingwall ferry to the islands of Rousay, Egilsay, and Wyre.

The village of Evie is located in the West Mainland of Orkney. Its main attraction is the spectacular Iron age Broch of Gurness and the beautiful Sands of Evie, a long white sandy beach with wild orchids, often with seals in the bay. RSPB Birsay Moors Reserve & bird Hide are nearby as are the St Magnus Way and the Tingwall ferry to Rousay, Egilsay & Wyre.

Stromness & Kirkwall are only a 20 min drive away, and we are in easy reach of Skara Brae and the Ring of Brodgar, Orkney’s famous neolithic sites.

Lower Quoys offers fantastic self-catering accommodation in Evie, set on the west mainland of Orkney. Our two properties are nestled on a 4-acre farm built in the 1800s and boast outstanding views across open farmland to Eynhallow Sound and Rousay Island.

Our two properties are tastefully furnished and come with a range of facilities to suit all your needs. They are centrally located, providing a great base from which to explore Orkney.

Lower Quoys offers modern accommodation in a two bedroomed, two-storey house. The house was completely renovated in 2016 to offer quality accommodation. Outside there is a garden with seating, great for al fresco dining in the afternoon sun.

Mole End Cottage is a charming ‘But and Ben’ single-storey cottage which has a double bedroom, great for a romantic getaway. It comes with a delightful garden including seating. Both properties can be combined to sleep 6 people.

Aikerness beach or ‘Evie beach’ is within walking distance and great for swimming and seal spotting. The village has a shop with a post office and cafe. The Fern Valley Wildlife Centre is also nearby at Tingwall. 20 minutes drive away are the towns of Kirkwall and Stromness. You can also visit the Neolithic World Heritage UNESCO Site at Stennes (Ring of Brodgar, Maeshowe, Skara Brae, Standing Stones etc).

The timber-clad lodge sleeps up to 4 people but can sleep 6. There is a master double bedroom which has en suite facilities with a shower, wall-mounted TV and ample storage space. The second bedroom is a twin room which has a separate bathroom and toilet, washbasin and bath with an over-bath shower. Linen and towels are provided. A sofa bed in the lounge can provide an additional double bed if required.

The property benefits from having a fully equipped kitchen with a range of excellent appliances: hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine and also holds a dining table and chairs. There is also a cosy and spacious lounge with a wall-mounted flat-screen TV and feature fireplace, the perfect place to relax and unwind in after a busy day exploring the local area.

The area provides an excellent habitat for birdlife and there are regular sightings of hen harrier and short-eared owl on-site and in the general area, along with numerous other species, some migrants, varying with the seasons. There is a new RSPB hide on Burgar Hill, a short distance away and Red Throated Divers can be viewed from here. Brown hares are also a common sighting.

These two cottages are an ideal place to unwind and escape the stresses of everyday life. The cottages retain much of their original character and are in a gorgeous position on the island of Orkney, Scotland. 

Your pets are welcome to stay too by arrangement and children of any age are more than welcome! The farm also has a campsite with pitches for tents and two small campervans if you prefer a glamping set up. 

The cottages are nestled in the village of Evie which located to the north of Mainland. Its main attraction is the spectacular Broch of Gurness. The best view of the site is from the east, where you can clearly make out the 'main street' leading towards the broch. Next to the broch is the beautiful Sands of Eavie, a long white sand beach with wild orchids.
