Park Farm Country Cottages, Norton Hawkfield, Pensford, Chew Magna, Bristol

Two beautiful barn conversions near Chew Magna offering family friendly self catering accommodation, fantastic views, just 6 miles from Bristol, and ideal for visiting Bath and Wells.

The Dairy is a delightful single storey cottage which has been converted from a stone milking parlour. It has large French doors to the living area, so enjoys the sun well into the early evening. It has 2 bedrooms and sleeps 4.

The Barn is a stunning 2 storey converted barn that sleeps 4/5, with vaulted ceilings, exposed traditional peg jointed oak trusses and a gallery which can be used for additional sleeping. It has large French windows opening out onto a patio with own garden furniture and enjoys the sun well into the early evening.

Within a 30 minute walk of the cottages is the ancient stone circle and toll house at Stanton Drew and Maes Knoll Tump an iron age hill-fort from which there are panoramic views of Bristol, The Severn Bridge/Estuary as well as the Chew Valley with its lakes! Maes Knoll Tump is part of the 3 Peaks Circular Walk, (Forest of Avon) the Community Forest Path also passes through the farm, as well as the National Cycle Route 3. Chew Magna has 3 pubs all serving good food, a good village food store, a traditional butcher, a bank, a post office/gift shop and a cafe/gift shop and is an excellent place to wander and explore.

Chew Valley Lake (2.5 miles) along with its sister lakes are very popular with anglers and birdwatchers, with over 260 types of birds have been recorded there, the restaurant and picnic facilities at Chew Valley and Blagdon Lakes provide a lovely setting for refreshment perhaps followed by a walk along a waterside trail.

Hinton Lodge is a gorgeous Victorian Lodge that used to be the Gate House to Hinton House. Now benefiting from its own separate entrance and no longer attached to the house, it provides our guests with a peaceful and secluded retreat. Hinton Lodge simply oozes character with its lovely open porch overlooking a field where Magic and Wally, the owner’s two lovely horses, graze lazily. It is perfect for families with children who enjoy watching the horses or the many rabbits jumping through the grass.

Hinton Lodge provides you with an ideally central place to reach an array of wonderful places for day trips, such as the beautiful City of Bath (30 minutes away), the famous Ancient stone Circles of Stonehenge and Avebury (40 minutes), Salisbury and its Cathedral (45 minutes), Longleat House with its fantastic Safari (25 minutes) providing an outstanding day out for children and adults alike, as well as the Cotswolds (1 hour).
