The Old Coach House

The Old Coach House offers self-catering accommodation in Aldwark, near Matlock. Dating back to 1686, this charming two-bedroom cottage provides an ideal base for exploring the many attractions and beautiful countryside of Derbyshire.

Accommodation

Beautifully furnished throughout, The Old Coach House can accommodate up to six guests. On the ground floor, there is a spacious kitchen and dining area equipped with a range of appliances, including an electric hob and oven, microwave, air fryer, fridge and freezer.

The cosy lounge is the perfect place to relax and features a multifuel/log burner, exposed wooden beams, a jukebox and a Smart internet TV.

On the first floor, there is a double bedroom and a second bedroom with bunk beds, which can also be arranged as single beds if required. A temporary bed and an additional double sofa bed are also available. Both bedrooms share a fully equipped bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Outside, guests can enjoy a large private garden, courtyard and children's playground with play apparatus. The garden boasts delightful views across the surrounding open fields. A field behind the property is suitable for dog walking, and guests are welcome to bring their horse, although stabling facilities are not available. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided for outdoor dining and relaxation.

Visiting Aldwark and Exploring Derbyshire

A traditional pub is located approximately one mile from the cottage, while Aldwark Ales brewery offers seasonal entertainment during the summer months. Aldwark itself is a small hamlet set within the beautiful Peak District National Park.

The surrounding area offers plenty of interesting towns and attractions to explore, including Matlock, Ashbourne and Buxton. Popular nearby attractions include:

  • Alton Towers.

  • Gulliver's Kingdom.

  • Haddon Hall.

  • Chatsworth House.
