The Blacksmith’s Bothy
Built on the site of a former working forge, The Blacksmith’s Bothy offers a perfect mix of heritage and comfort. Designed to accommodate up to four guests, it is ideal for couples or small families. Inside, guests are welcomed by warm oak furnishings, leather seating, a wood-burning stove, and electric heating, making it suitable for all seasons.
The open-plan living and dining area enjoys sea-facing views and features a circular oak dining table. The kitchen is fully equipped with an LPG hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge, washer/dryer, and dishwasher. The ground-floor bathroom is spacious and modern, while an oak spiral staircase leads to two cosy bedrooms – one with a king-size bed, the other a twin room. A small upstairs toilet and washbasin add convenience. Outside, guests can relax in the enclosed garden with a seating area, perfect for soaking in the peaceful surroundings.
The Ploughman’s Bothy
The Ploughman’s Bothy is a pet-friendly cottage accommodating up to four guests. Accessed by steps from the parking area, the cottage opens onto a raised patio with captivating views over the Corriecravie Valley.
The lounge features leather sofas, a Smart TV, and a DVD player set within a traditional fireplace and exposed stone wall. A spiral staircase separates the living space from the fully equipped kitchen and leads to two upstairs bedrooms—one double and one twin—both with scenic valley views.
A glass-topped dining table offers a space to enjoy meals with sea views, while a wood-burning stove and underfloor heating provide extra comfort. The ground-floor bathroom includes a full-size bath with shower and modern fixtures. Outside, guests can enjoy a picnic on the patio seating area, with easy access to the parking area.
The Hayshed
Formerly an agricultural store, The Hayshed has been thoughtfully converted into a family-friendly holiday cottage suitable for up to four adults and two children under 10. This cottage is dog-friendly by arrangement.
Set within a south-facing garden in the former farm courtyard, the property is accessed via steps or a wheelchair ramp, leading to a raised patio with a picnic table. The open-plan ground floor features a cosy lounge with a wood-burning stove, a dining area with sweeping views of Kilbrannan Sound and Corriecravie Valley, and a well-equipped kitchen.
The ground floor also includes a bedroom with a king-size bed and a bathroom with underfloor heating and a level-entry shower, making it ideal for guests with mobility needs. Upstairs, there are two additional bedrooms—one double and one twin—providing peaceful spaces to unwind after a day exploring the island.
Exploring the Area
Guests can enjoy a 15-minute walk to the rocky shoreline along a quiet farm track that winds through open fields often dotted with sheep, cattle, and the occasional hare. The area is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, with chances to spot seals, otters, birds of prey, and migrating seabirds.
Outdoor lovers will find plenty to enjoy, from walking, cycling, and beachcombing, to kayaking and golf. Local attractions include the Lagg Distillery and historic Lagg Inn, both just 2 miles away, and the village of Blackwaterfoot (4 miles), home to shops, a garage, the Kinloch Hotel and Bar, a sandy beach, and the famous 12-hole Shiskine Golf Course.
