We are 1 mile from Stranraer, which is next to Lochryan and the villages of Portpatrick and Sandhead, making us the perfect base from which to explore the local area.
Stranraer has a number of quality outlets offering local produce. Try the multi award winning ‘Jack’s Butchers’ for local beef and a range of specially prepared products, or Fraser’s Butchers for a range of quality local meat products. Loch’s Store is worth a visit if you want to purchase some fine single malts. The Ryan Centre provides fitness suite, free weights suite, indoor games courts, swimming pool, sauna, cinema and live concerts/theatre. Spoutwells Holiday Cottages are about ten minutes’ walk from town and a 3 minute drive.
Visitor attractions in Stranraer include the Castle of St John, a round tower built in 1500 from which the Sheriff of Wigtown, Graham of Claverhouse, conducted vicious campaigns against the Covenanters and was later used as a prison. Further local history can be found at the Stranraer Museum – which itself is well worth a visit. The Rhins of Galloway are worth exploring in their own right.
