New Court Cottages offer stylish self-catering accommodation in the peaceful surroundings of Usk, Monmouthshire. Set within a private nature reserve, the beautifully renovated barns provide a tranquil countryside retreat ideal for couples, families, or groups.

Yaffle Barn

Yaffle Barn is accessed via an eye-catching glass-and-steel bridge at first-floor level, opening into a spacious and light-filled living area. A fully equipped kitchen sits at one end, while deep sofas surround a contemporary inset wood-burning stove at the other. Soaring oak beams celebrate the barn's heritage, while modern features such as bi-fold doors, a spiral staircase, and a sleek balcony offer a fresh, contemporary feel.

Downstairs, two large king-size bedrooms each feature wide bi-fold doors leading to a private patio, British White cowhide accents, and soft sheepskin rugs. Both bedrooms benefit from their own ensuite facilities—one a wet room, the other a bathroom—each with rain showers, luxury Welsh toiletries, plush towels, and stylish fittings.

Though Yaffle Barn adjoins the main house, it enjoys a spacious private garden, and guests have access to the surrounding grounds and adjacent wildlife reserve.

The Snug

The Snug is a cosy yet cleverly designed retreat, reached via a set of steps leading to a ground-floor entrance. Inside, a compact but well-equipped kitchen complements a modern wood-burning stove and a comfortable sofa, creating an inviting living space.

A spiral staircase leads to a characterful double bedroom, adorned with a British White cowhide throw, Moroccan plaster accents, and gently curved walls. At the top of the stairs, a sleek shower room features a rain shower, plush towels, and a curated selection of luxury toiletries. Thick sheepskin rugs provide comfort and warmth throughout.

The Snug connects to Yaffle Barn at first-floor level, and together they can be booked as New Court Barns, sleeping up to 8 guests across four double bedrooms. While they share a large garden, each retains a private seating area. Guests are welcome to enjoy the grounds and explore the surrounding nature reserve.

Exploring Usk & Monmouthshire

New Court Cottages are ideally placed for exploring the stunning countryside of Monmouthshire. The Black Mountains offer breathtaking scenery and a wealth of walking trails. Just a short drive away, the majestic ruins of Tintern Abbey, dating back to the 12th century, provide a fascinating glimpse into the past.

For those who love the water, the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal stretches across 32 miles of picturesque landscapes, with opportunities to hire boats from a range of local providers for a relaxing day out.

New Court Cottages offers charming self catering accommodation in Usk, Monmouthshire. The newly renovated barns are set within a nature reserve, perfect for a tranquil holiday.

Yaffle Barn

This luxurious cottage is approached at 1st floor level over a modern glass bridge. The large living area is a lovely place to relax in and comes with an inset wood burner, comfy sofas and TV. A well-equipped kitchen has bifold doors which opens onto the garden.

A spiral staircase descends to the ground floor where there are two spacious bedrooms. Each bedroom comes with its own bifold door, en suite bathroom and Moroccan plaster feature wall. Both bedrooms have a seating area and en suite bathroom with Hansgroghe rain shower. All the bedrooms come with high-quality towels, toiletries, a hairdryer, TV and sheepskins on the floor.

The Snug

This smaller cottage is perfect for a romantic break. Inside there is a living area, well-equipped kitchen and large bed sofa. Facilities include a modern wood burner and TV. A spiral staircase leads to a well-designed shower room with a Hansgroghe rain shower. The bedrooms boast a polished plaster wall, double bed, white cowhide bed cover, TV and hairdryer.

Outside there is a lawned area to the rear and a further garden to explore which comes with a small stream, wooded area and garden room. There is direct access to the surrounding wildlife reserve and farm. Ideal for enjoying glorious views across the Usk Valley towards the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons.

A popular combination of the above 2 properties providing 4 double bedrooms, 2 kingsize ensuites, one double and one comfy double sofabed, accommodating 8-10.

You can explore a range of superb attractions in the local area. The Black Mountains are truly beautiful. There are lots of wonderful trails to explore. Tintern Abbey dates to the 18th Century and is a great place to explore on a sunny day. Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal runs through 32 miles of gorgeous scenery. You can hire a boat from a range of boating holiday companies on the canal.
