Creagalain Cottage, Borve, Isle of Skye (Sleeps 1-5)


This very comfortable, totally renovated traditional croft house sleeps four adults plus a child and is situated in the crofting township of Borve.

The house is set back from the single track road that loops through Borve off the A87 Portree-Uig road, and is situated just three miles from Skye's picturesque capital, Portree. This central location is ideal for touring the island.

The cottage has been awarded three stars by VisitScotland and provides real home from home comforts for up to 4 adults plus a child. There is a comfortable lounge with colour tv and dvd player, a spacious dining kitchen with all facilites including electric cooker, washing machine, microwave etc, and a ground floor shower room with toilet and wc. The cottage also has a freezer and a tumble dryer.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms, one double, one twin and one small bedroom suitable for a child or smaller adult. All electricity including heating is included in the tariff, and bed linen and towels are provided.

Just three miles south of the cottage lies the village of Portree, the main shopping centre of the island. There are two supermarkets here, as well as a bakery, butchers, chemist, hardware and souvenir shops as well as garages and filling stations.

There are several hotels, bars, restaurants and cafes in the village and the Aros centre with its sea-eagle and island exhibition and regular music, cinema and theatre performances is on the outskirts.

Just down the main street from Portree's central square is the harbour. Portree means 'The King's Port' in Gaelic and it is easy to see why. The bay with its moored pleasure craft and the shell fish boats landing their catches at the pier make it a very tranquil and relaxing place.
