Ty Cerrig Woodland Retreats offers fabulous self catering accommodation in a cabin and shepherds hut set on 8 acres of grounds on the outskirts of Bonvilston. It is hidden away from the pressures of modern life but also accessible to the city of Cardiff and a range of attractions in Glamorgan.
Bwncath Log Cabin:
This cosy cabin is perfect for magical retreat in a scenic setting. The wooden framed building is packed with sheep's wool to keep you snug and the large windows take advantage of the amazing views. The cabin sleeps 4 people and a chair bed is also available.
French doors open into the delightful living area which comes with a comfy leather sofa and a toasty wood burner for chilly days. A fully-equipped kitchen is great for home-cooking and includes an under-counter refrigerator with freezer compartment, a gas cooker with grill and oven and a traditional ceramic Belfast sink set into a solid beech block worktop. Savour some delicious meals around the painted farmhouse table.
Two attractive bedrooms are available: 1 double and 1 twin room. Both rooms have goose feather and down duvets, perfect for a peaceful night’s sleep after a day in the countryside. A shower room has a modern flushing toilet, washbasin and shower cubicle.
Outside there is a picnic table and BBQ for al fresco dining in the evening sun. A fire pit is great for huddling around whilst toasting marshmallows when the stars are shining.
Gwdihw Shepherds Hut:
This wonderful shepherd’s hut is simply furnished and comes with a range of facilities, ideal for a tranquil country getaway. The hut sleeps 4 and is great for a romantic break or family holiday.
Solid oak steps lead to the stable door of the charming hut. Inside there is an oak table and bench seats, a lovely spot for a morning coffee. A wood burner will keep you nice and snug in the winter months. A well-equipped kitchen area includes an integrated fridge, with a small freezer compartment and a traditional ceramic Belfast sink set into an oak worktop. Outside there is a picnic bench, firepit and BBQ if you fancy some al fresco dining on a warm, summer’s day.
A traditional ledge and brace doors opens into the modern shower room which has a flushing toilet, washbasin and shower cubicle. Opposite the kitchen area is a bench seat which turns into a single bed, whilst a second bed drops from the wall to create a top bunk. Hidden inside the wall beside the table is a drop-down double bed. Duvets and pillows are provided.
Ty Cerrig is surrounded by countryside which is perfect for walking. Lanlay is a gorgeous area to walk around and Old Beaupre Castle is home to a majestic ruined medieval fortified manor house. The coast is also close by and nearby Cardiff offers a whole host of amenities and attractions. Glamorgan is a beautiful place to visit with sites such as Dyffryn Gardens or Cardiff Castle, one of Wales’s leading heritage attractions.
